So I don't want to get all official and press releaseish with you guys, but my new Model 23N preamp is now available. If you click over to the web site, you can read about it: tbaudiogear.com/model23nThere is also a demo video on YouTube showing some drums tracked entirely with the 23N. The audio is completely unprocessed in the video so as to give a good idea of what these things really sound like. Over on the the product page, there is a link to download the hi-res files for the demo if you want to listen in studio. I'm really pleased with how it came out and hope you like it too! Of course, let me know if you have any questions at all. Thanks, Brian

Sounds great. Looks great. And $399 assembled... Wow. How come you don't offer it as DIY?

I really wanted to offer something at a great price that wasn't any kind of design or build compromise and could hold its own in any studio big or small. A tall order, but I'm confident that it will do so. As for the no DIY, that was purely a business decision. Going a new direction with this one. Brian

Looks cool -- I think Darth Vader might have had one in his Tie Fighter. Looking forward to checking out samples....

hi Brian! is this modeled after anything particular? what were you specifically going after with the design? demo vid sounds solid btw 8) Without telling you the long and mostly boring story, there is a little inspiration behind the circuit however it strayed pretty far once I started thinking about what I wanted and what it needed to be for studio use. The design itself isn't exactly a revelation however I have been completely unable to find anything else on the market like it. You would have found its like in some consoles of the 80s and 90s. I think I got more excited about it when I realized that I could execute on something very clean but still with its own unique vibe and it wouldn't be too expensive to produce. I think a great transformerless pre that isn't totally sterile could find a nice place in most studios. The first thing anyone says when they turn it on is "holy crap that's quiet!" And thanks on the vid I love how it came out, both from a sound and visual standpoint.
