I think one of mine busted in shipping. It should be hitting the tester tomorrow, but I'm expecting to replace. What are you guys using?

I'll go look...I know when my Sta was sick, I think the 6v6 was the issue. I think it's Electro Harmonix, though.

I think in the drip sta- build papers on their site, they have tube recommendations for standard/medium/high end builds? I think i remember reading that....?

The Drip BOM calls for... 1 pair matched 6v6gt tubes Tung-Sol 6V6GT New Production $35 for matched pair (important) How about heat with the Sta? Does it throw a lot? Do I need to leave open spaces or can it just be racked up?

Most of the Originals lived in racks packed full with no space, so I wouldn't be to worried, but I do like space with enclosed tubes.

The 6V6s in my STA are Egnater-branded Rubys. They are in there by accident, though. When a tube got noisy, I replaced both with the tubes out of an Eggie Tweaker just to test things out. It sounded so good I left them in.

So I'm planning on racking it in one of these, but laying on it's back with the controls facing up, mastering desk style. The bottom (or back of Sta) will still be open for airflow though. So it seems like the Tung Sol tubes that Drip recommends will be sufficient. I don't need to get some obscure NOS 6V6's or anything for this bad boy. Thanks guys!

Wonder what replacing with NOS Brimar or Marconi would sound like?

Are Tele 12ax7's extremely rare or something? Maybe, but $1400 for two tubes seems crazy to me.

I believe one of the more rare/expensive 12AX7, but $1400..wow, not that rare. Christian handpicked a low noise Telefunken 12AX7 for my LA2 build. Think it was $110.

Just checked mine. Fenders in one and Electro Harmonix in the other. Came from RI that way.
