Man I really drank the Kool-Aid. I'm excited by anything new UAD is putting out. That 1176 and LA2A collection just really changed my mind about software compressors. Now I'm really into VOG. Don't know what's next for me, probably the EMT 140.

Don't know what's next for me, probably the EMT 140. Plate 140 is excellent. I use that on every song along with the new pultec (bass/kick) and Harrison 32eq (everything). New 1176's are fantastic too... big improvement from the legacy version. I didn't buy the LA2A upgrade since my JLM LA500 was winning out in AB comparisons. Also use the LA3A plug on guitars a lot.

Ditto on the EMT 140, Harrison and the new Pultec. But don't discount the UAD legacy Pultec. Sometimes to my ear, it's smoother than the new version, on program material.

I could see that being the case -- I only recently upgraded to the new pultec, and I much preferred it on bass in particular, but that was largely because it brought some some grit and detail that I wasnt hearing with the legacy version ... Nice for bass but maybe not as much for buss duties. I'll have to give that a try.

Yep, the EMT 140 is spooky good, reminds me of the real thing, and you can change plate sizes. I use it on all my acoustic guitars. The Pultec really helps with th drums sitting well in the mix, they don't get lost, and have the right amount of cut with it.
As for the 1176, well, I also have Waves plugs, and because I'm short on dap power with my Duo, I use a substitute sometimes, and the Kramer 1176 and Tape emulation works just fine, and occasionally sounds better than the UAD version. I do have the Warm Audio WA76, so I don't use 1176 plugs as often anymore, since I tracks with it a lot.
What I don't have, and would like to get is the Ocean Ways plug. Cowboycoalminer's used it on a lot of his current tracks, and I honestly thought he'd done them in a real first class studio.

I have tried to like the Ocean Way plug...I just don't think it sounds any better than some of the room sounds I can get with Altiverb and VVV...
