Finally TS wrote something i like 8), i like the quote at the end,
"The post ended on a note of desperation, “P.S. Taylor, we were both young when we first saw you, but now there’s more than 40 million of us who want you to stay, stay, stay. It’s a love story, baby, just say, Yes."
She should say ok, PAY, PAY, PAY, AND I'LL STAY, STAY, STAY 8)

"We hope she’ll change her mind and join us in building a new music economy that works for everyone. We believe fans should be able to listen to music wherever and whenever they want, and that artists have an absolute right to be paid for their work and protected from piracy. That’s why we pay nearly 70% of our revenue back to the music community."
#1, can't believe the gall of a middleman company telling an artist how to make their music available. #2, Do you really believe the 70% number?

It's a stretch of the truth..... paying subscribers may generate that kind of payout for the artist, and I emphasize might, but the royalties have to be restructured for streaming, it's just not the same type of deal as the archaic system that is in place now. I like Spotify, it's convenient and I think it's the future, but it's getting to the point where I have to draw the line, because I have a lot of friends that are song writers, artists, musicians, engineers, myself included that need to start getting paid again for this work. It's expensive to do it and it takes skill, it's also a passion and its because of that they know they can get away with this. At some point though you have to decide when enough is enough. Until they restructure payouts I'm just doing HDtracks.com and iTunes, been doing that for a while now.
If they can figure out the royalties Streaming will be a cash cow for the industry, so many people want it, and they'll pay for it, it's just we have to get it out of peoples minds that music should be free, totally free.

I guess they mean 70% of 0.0002 cents? Spotify is a joke and an insult to working artists. I don't use them and I still buy physical CDs. But then, I'm not part of the iGeneration that doesn't ask questions and lives for convenience...

I'm still buying physical products also, however, the sound of a lot of the re-masters has been disappointing.

It's a slightly different story with Michael Anthony, he was under contract to receive 1/4 royalties for "every" album but that was breached when EVH replaced him with his son, there should have been a buyout, instead he found out on the internet what was going on.

Yeah, Eddie's treatment of Michael Anthony really soured me big time on them. I used to be the biggest EVH fan and I've really gotten turned off of the band and their music because of all that. The pinnacle for me of Eddie's douchiness was the whole thing with the movie Superbad and how they used Panama in the film and if you watch the credits, Michael Anthony's name is removed from the list of songwriters for that. It's like Eddie is trying to remove Michael Anthony completely from Van Halen history. Then of course there was that moment when Eddie tried re-releasing the "Van Halen" album with his son's picture replacing Michael Anthony... Pathetic.

the whole bitchy fighting thing those guys did was a terrible disappointment from day one, i was/am a huge old VH fan, when i was a kid, part of the appeal was the whole effortless badassedry with the "don't let anything get you down", "it's all good attitude", that got flushed, but i still throw those old records on and marvel at the sound and groove those whiney bitches laid down 8)

EVH was the big talent, it was his band, but when you take out Anthony's backing vox there's definitely something missing. What was extremely unprofessional was Anthony finding out on the internet that Wolfgang was going on tour instead of him.
