I'm in the middle of switching over all my software to a new (used) Mac Mini. I have everything installed and all went smoothly except for Relab 480LX. Now when I open the plug, it crashes PT10 immediately. I've tried downloading the newest version of Relab, uninstalling the old, restarting the computer and nothing works. It was working absolutely perfectly on my Macbook with the the exact same OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion for almost a year now.
Anyone have any fixes?
Thanks!

try another daw? even the free version of reaper.. to see if its a pro tools thing.
Try ( i don't know how to do this in pro tools) re scan your plug ins
Try reinstalling the ilok software and making sure its up to date.
I assume your other ilok plug ins load and run, eliminating the probability of ilok/usb failure?
cheers

I just read the final 5 pages of the Relab thread at GS, curious about new info on AAX. Re the latest version, in March someone suggested to PM Martin via the Relab forum to get the latest build. That seems to have solved problems for some. Very odd that the latest build wasn't available on the product page, but perhaps it's worth a try.

Oh man, I went through this when I first got the 480XL. I had used the demo, bought the plug before the demo ran out, but I was cut me off from my DAW, as if I was trying to use the demo illegally. I don't recall the details, it's been a long time since, but it was the most frustrating thing I've ever dealt with, second only to Slate's disastrous VTM locking up my iLok for a week.
I think you might still have a folder or file somewhere that might be conflicting with the new version.
This is why I don't download any of their upgrades, the site is confusing as to if there is an actual update, and the customer service response is slow, and I'm at the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" stage currently.
I use Logic, and it's gone well.
When I first got it, I was confused as to loading new programs, because it wasn't in the GUI, it brought up a whole different page. Great verb, weak installation instructions and customer service help when needed. Martin seems like a decent fellow, but I think there may be a bit of a language difference and small shop syndrome factoring into it.

Thanks for all who have responded. I've literally tried it all so far. But, I'm now wondering if I overlooked the most obvious - is there an actual .dmg file to install LX480 that I may not have? I've been looking for this everywhere but can't find one? When I download from Relab's site basically all I get are a .dpm file, a .component file, a "user generated preset" folder, a graphics folder and a .txt as to where to put the files. Where does the actual software installer originate from? .dpm file is placed in Digidesign plugins folder with the rest of my RTAS Plugs. .component is in the component folder. @superwack - where are you putting your graphics and user generated presets folder? wiz - I have Logic X but haven't installed it yet. I may give that a shot if time allows.

Same version of PT installed 10.3.8. Don't know where the software conflict would be but who knows? I'm getting a little burned out so I may take a break......

Bummer odyssey, sometimes there's a file buried somewhere that you miss.
Since I use Logic, I can't say, but perhaps it's Pro Tools related.

Hmm should be fine if plugs are in correct folders ?
My relab runs fine in 10 and I use blue cat as a wrapper and relab vst runs fine in 11 again with plugs in correct folders
Can you post screenshot of folder path and the relab gui screen for loading plugs: think its screen 5 or 6 ?
Its probably something simple ?

I've never been this stumped before? I still have Relab installed on my old computer. Can you have it installed on 2 or more computers? Again, thanks a ton for your help and effort!

I think this is one of the years ago promised updates that has yet to materialize. The graphics folder should go directly in to the rtas plugin folder's root level with the .DPM - nothing in the download can be renamed or put elsewhere or it will crash on open. Okay, I'll give this a shot tomorrow and report back. Much appreciated superwack!

can you post screenshots ? adn what happens when you open up the gui to load plugs ? or does it just crash all the time now ? I've narrowed it down to a GUI problem. I opened a session that already had the Relab plug on it. I soloed the track with the verb and it's working. But, as soon as I click on the plug or try to open a new instance, PT crashes instantly and "quits unexpectedly." This happens every single time. I can post screen shots tomorrow night. Do you want to see the pages with the root folders? Thanks a ton!

Here's the shot of the .dpm location. I'm pretty sure this is all I'm supposed to do. I believe all the other files are supposed to stay in the Relab folder. I've tried placing the .component folder in its place but still same result. Pretty sure that is only an AU install procedure anyway. Another funny thing - I've gone through all folders and tried to delete every trace of Relab that I can. Even after this I can still open a session that has the plug on it and the plug is still there. Pro Tools doesn't tell me that there are plugins missing. There must be traces of it somewhere?

Just switching over to a new machine and PT is running great with Relab being the only exception. I reinstalled all my other plugins with success. Kinda' sucks because LX480 is great.

why do you have relab in your plug ins folder nested within the digidesign folder ?
have you tried taking it out and resetting the default path ?

I decided to sell the plug and take advantage of some of these great deals going on right now. It's an opportunity for me to grow my plugin library which is kind of dismal. I'll try to pay it forward in the future! Thanks
