Now that I've had a couple weeks and 5 vocalists on this ELA M 250 (Mic Rehab'd)… I'm realizing how amazing it truly is!! ALL 5 of the vocalists exclaimed, before getting to the 1st chorus mind you, things like, "what mic IS this?!", "I've never heard myself sound this good!", "holy s#it!", "I sing better on this mic than anything else"… and so on. The low end is full and tight, mids detailed like nothing I've ever heard (VM1 maybe only other mic that could even be used as a reference but not as good) and the top end… like butta!! Simply gorgeous. Million dollar sound unlike anything I've ever recorded with. And…this is with NO EQ! Shannon Rhoades, you are a true artist!!Anyone who thinks Shannon is merely a "tech" is sadly misunderstanding his genius. His combination of technical know-how, innovative methods, McCartney-like curiosity for the "what if we tried…" and impeccable ears would be enough to set him apart from the rest… but I think it's his passion for wanting to "feel something" thru his craft and creations that elevates his work above the rest. Many thanks to @sinsay for breathing life and soul into this microphone and for also being my friend. Considering there are only two others like this in existence… John McBride of Blackbird Studios in Nashville and producer Dave Cobb who originally told me about Shan's work on his 250… I feel extremely fortunate. Sweet. I met Shannon @ AES and he truly seems like a passionate guy. I hope to hear some of his creations one day. They all seem to be back east though. But someday, yeah, I've gotta have Shannon do some magic to one or more of my mics that are collecting dust..... :-)
For now, speaking of collecting dust, I'm having fun with the new Innertube retrofit for my vintage 87. Pretty cool stuff. Just got it this week and it completely revamps the old 87 and gives it a new life.
Enjoy it littlesicily!

Yes, @sinsay had already disassembled it to begin repairing when I bought it. It was in "working" condition, so the seller told me, but Shan revived that thing to new glory!

So - I'm beginning to think one of the Tele USA E's or F's might be worth the investment...and then have Shannon put in a new capsule.

I would be surprised if that is the case, John. That thing came in a suitcase in many pieces!

Shannon mentioned he did a Tele AK47 that came out really, really nicely. I know it has a miniature tube...maybe it or the AR51 with one of Shannon's caps would be a really, really good 251 approximation. I might take the plunge.

It was a OG capsule, very early one. ( they were thinner over all in thickness, )
