Hmm.. I was really going for a super slick and clean/modern look.. So I was going to leave the front without silkscreening..
I guess I could add something if you guys think I need to..

I think the front looks great without silkscreening, so I would be happy with that. Please don't do the Ross Martin thing and slap some stuff on the front that looks like shit. If you can think of a company name or logo that you're happy with, then it might be to your benefit to put a small version of that on the front or the back. The back would have the benefit that you could use a sticker if you wanted to avoid redoing the silkscreening.

Looks great the way it is! Nice and clean. Agreed that RM converters look cheap on the faceplates. No continuity between the different models either. They may sound good but don't look good. For guys that run high end studios, myself included, looks aren't everything, but they do matter. Clean is good IMO

if your Avatar isn't trademarked by some other company, you should just put that on the front panel and call it a day.

Eh...I might stay away from the Avatar...could be construed as the occult. Could hurt business.

It's the schematic symbol for a diode...

right now with just one box, a unique identifier isn't so consequential, but if svart does develop other products or a mkii then it might be.
I like the clean faceplate: wonder if its a visual metaphor for the sonics of the unit in svart's mind/eye ?
but perhaps a simple name SB-C1 (svart box Converter 1).
Was thinking all the warm products have a simple (alpha-numeric).

It's the schematic symbol for a diode... Yes, I'm not sure how that could be construed as anything occult. Is there some similar occult symbol that I'm not aware of?

I was just joking, but these days you never know. It kind of looks like an upside down cross LOL

agreed: he went to a lot of trouble to perfect silkscreening the back

LOL, the front will be blank.
Partly because I love modern sleek design, partly because I honestly could not decide what to do with it(and ran out of time)! I thought I had a graphic designer who would think something up but they were unreliable, so I lost that time I thought they were working on it.
And it's funny about the avatar. My Skype avatar is also the same and a coworker once asked me if the symbol was an illuminati symbol..
Future batches might have a logo or something, but the first batch or two will not.

So what's the word, svart?

So what's the word, svart? On which part? The build: I got the shipping boxes this week. I've silkscreened all but two chassis so far. All look great! I found that I need to trim some of the chassis front lips as some of them are just a hair taller than others. I'm also finishing up the rest of the boards. It takes me 2 hours a board to build, and each unit takes 2 boards... So I can only build maybe one board a night after work. I have pretty much all the DAC boards built, and lack maybe 3 ADC boards to finish, with a few mods to make on each ADC. With the boards I've finished, I'll be building units over the long weekend most likely, and programming them next week. Hopefully then I can start boxing them up to ship, and collect money from the first 10 lucky folks. I'll be contacting each person on the list individually. The demo unit: jcoutu1 has the unit, but hasn't had the time to mess with it much.

I'm not reporting anything that we haven't already heard.
RME still sounds cloudy in the low mids and scooped in the upper mids. Bit pillowy on the bottom.
Focusrite lacks clarity and definition compared to the other two.
Svartbox is similar to how I remember the Emotiva. Feels balanced, clean throughout the spectrum. Bass guitar has really nice clarity and definition. Mids are more present than the Fireface. Just a better overall presentation.
Just to be thorough, we also listened to the Schiit Lyr 2 (headphone amp) with some vintage tubes it in. Muuuuuch much nicer sound than the Big Knob. So much smoother on top. Big Knob gets a bit harsh, the Schiit is smooth as butter.
