One of the posts in another thread got me thinkin'...
whats the dirty little secret you have?
Mine is Vocal Rider and Bass Rider by Waves.
They took me a while to integrate successfully, but life would be soooo much harder without them.
cheers

i wish bass rider would write the automation like vocal rider... My secret weapon is running a powerful enough computer to run linear phase eq's as filters, i really hate the smear i get with conventional plugs filtering.

Dirty little secrets 1. That Chanel with nothing going in for client to try what ever 2 the Stedman N90 for the guy who "only uses a condenser on my voice in the studio" It's an RE20 element in a case that looks like a condenser.

As a producer / engineer my job is to achieve the sound you want, your paying me for that ability, if lying cheating is easier why not. Of course I always hated it when somebody told somebody we really didn't do what they wanted.

I did on project wher I was told no delay on any vocals, so I brought in a bunch of reverbs and an H3000 changed the titles of any program with delay that we used. Singer was so thin, loved how we made her voices so big and bulky, she was so happy we didn't use any delay, "You were right we did it withou any Delay boxes or programs called delay" "See you mixed my best vocals without using delay" Yep nothing named delay was used and I agree we did make you sons the best I ever heard you sound " Guy who did her next album called from England asking what we used, I think he pissed himself laughing.

My dirty little secret is I can't play for shit, can't read music, have played by ear and muscle memory all my life. Hell, I honestly thought a G chord was C and C was G for the first couple years I played because my mother knew even less than me and she told me that's how they were,...BUT I'm one helluva an overdubber, slicer, dicer, copier, paster, nobtwister, mouse clicker, and just plain ole figure it outer. Oh, and... my dick touch da wootttaaa realgearonline.com/thread/1944/excellent-writing

Let's see, I'm thinking as I write, uhh, I believe Atlantis was real, and all the similar pyramid structures around the world reflect the influence of the survivors, merged with the local culture.
I miss playing 100 watt Marshall amps really frickin' loud, (with the full stack)
I almost never use pedals.
Writing is almost always painful.
I like watermelon a lot.
I still regret not buying the mint 1966 Super Reverb at Sam Ash when I was 15. I bought a big pile o'junk called a Plush amp.
DIY is way over my head.

Failure is a better teacher than easy success . I think the best tool in my studio's is perseverance .

I envy you, kind of. I'm too uncool to pull off things like that. The closest I come to think of is that I care for creating a relaxed atmosphere by making good esspressos, talk about life etc, which btw I enjoy much more and think is more important than discussing if snare has 0.5dB too much @ 6.5k. Not anyway near as dirty as watching Real Housewives...

I put on a show. I talk about cool gear and recording related knowledge in the studio but honestly I just turn knobs until things sound good. Just like everyone else.

I don't always brush my teeth twice a day.
No but seriously, I own a lot of Behringer gear and I want more. A lot of it is just decent, and cheap as s%hit. I'm even curious about their $20 SM58 copy.

Daft Punk is or was using the behringer control surfaces as their main instruments at their live show.

I use a 25€ Behringer bass pedal (sansamp DI style) when mixing. Careful, you may like it better than the real deal sometimes.

Works well with my DAW as a Mackie Control type of thing. Negative points: No scribble strip, not capacitively responding when you overdub automation while flying faders, you have to grab the fader against it's movement. Positive points: very sturdy, a few different emulation modes to fit different DAWs.
