Hi there , Just finished building my Colour 500-Series unit and wanted to start a thread where everyone who's interested on the unit or already has built theirs can share their experiences with it .

I wish the LTL stuff was offered diy, at least their little modules for this platform.

Does anyone make 500 basic modules without a design or parts that you can roll your own onto?
Keymod, are you a BCM, MI, DD rail guy or what other choice? I like the new UTG keymod rails for $130.

I've got a pair of them with IPS, jfet, and CTX. They're very easy to build with great instructions. As soon as the TM79's are back on stock, I plan on ordering at least one of those and maybe the xqp colourupter kit as well.
My main use for them now is printing tracks with varying amounts of CTX before mixing. It's a bit laborious doing two at a time, so I'm planning on getting more palette kits so I can do less passes. Then I use the pair during mixing for more obvious saturation/distortion effects on bass and vocals. For this, I've used all different combinations of 'colours' including the TB Audio 'Steezer' which is great on bass in particular.
I'd love to try the LTL tube and 1176 kits, but I'm trying to save pennies for the Silver Bullet (among other things).

Got four preorder kits w IPS, JFET and CTX. Added a pair of TM79s and did a shootout recently (drums parallel) and just slightly preferred the TM79s on that particular mix. Still waiting for a pair of LTL Pentodes. I really dig this concept, and will test more soon and also compare to Level-ors, Culture Vulture and also Soundtoy's Decapitator which is getting a lot of use here. Feels like I have enough options for years of experiments, but could easily go for another pair + another pair of TM79s.

I only asked because keymod rails are new and popular in mounting accessories to the AR-15 platform.

A thumbs-up to Peterson and crew. I needed a couple of replacement parts and they got them right out to me. Same for Jeff over at CAPI. I find that the DIY community excels at customer service. I have a question regarding operating the Palette:Does Colour1 feed into Colour2 feed into Colour3, if all buttons are selected? Or can only one module be used at a time?

I wish the LTL stuff was offered diy, at least their little modules for this platform. Well you could always get the modules, put them on the bench, warm up the soldering iron, drink a beer or two, and call it "built". . Even though we aren't offering these little guys as DIY kits I can promise you that they sound excellent, are an amazing value, and fun to use. By the way...Pentode is now shipping. Impulse and Implode will ship out on 11/19/14. Game on! Brad

I'm looking forward to getting the pulse in the mail. Seems pretty rad. I'm pretty stoked on how Pulse came out. I think you are going to really dig it. It will come set up for a classic slapback sound. Please do experiment with other settings. With really short delay settings you can almost get a roomy ambience out of it. What I'm dying to do is set it up as a stereo delay with one side like an eighth note and the other like a dotted eighth...something like that. If you live on the East coast there is a chance you could get your modules by the end of next week. Brad
