I' have never been overly impressed by the numbers Tridents, to me it's a basic Console EQ , No better than DDA or Soundcraft. Useable but nothing to write home about, hope its priced right.

There are two versions of 80B 4 band EQ's. The original found in the 1979 input modules have one opamp for both mid bands. The 80B/C monitor EQ version has two opamps, one for each band.
The single opamp version has an interaction design problem, you twist one band and the other is affected, not much fun. Even though Trident fixed that on the monitor modules, they never revised the original 1979 input module pcb so all of them have that problem.

I have had only a few experiences with products made by PMI and they have all ended badly. I just avoid them now. I would be very interested to see the build quality of these however. I don't mind SMT stuff often times it is better, but I do know that smt caps in the signal path don't make for great tone. My guess from the pics is that these don't sound like the originals. They are probably just another ok eq.

I don't know, maybe I"m weird but the topology doesn't flatter me much. SMT caps and opamps are not the best in the world IMO regarding the sound. I like the big 2520 footprint discrete opamps and seeing good quality caps. Maybe it has an effect, maybe it doesn't, but from past experience it sure seems like it for me at least.
