I think I was one of MJ's first customers when I sent my MC012's to him for modding years ago. I must say, huge difference! Still, not quite there with the Beyer and Neumann, but very good. I think the remaining discrepancy is a capsule issue since the upgraded electronics themselves seemed to be quite nice. For that kind of money ($800), though, I'd stick with the Beyers, or spend a little more and get the Neumanns. *in all fairness, the street price for the Beyers are about $1200 for the pair. I bought mine new for $800 a few years ago. I've seen them on Ebay used for $600-$800.
