Reel to Reel, DAT or Cassette, anyone still using them? I'd like to pick up a 1" or 2" R2R some day while they're still around.

i would love to get a 1" 8 track for dumping drum tracks to and fro, i believe there is a guy in nashville that sells multitrack machines all refurbished. There is one particular unit thats supposed to be really killer, low maintenance and stable, i want to say MCI, but i cant remember, i'll look it up later.

I was. A water pipe in the ceiling broke and water ran through both machines for 2 days and flooded the studio. Just got them back from my tech that was able to bring them back to life, with some new parts and some rebuilding, and they are now, totally up to spec Lucky insurance covered everything. It'll probably be till the first of the year to rebuild and replace drywall. Hope to be spinnin tape by then.

His all-analog studio is called "Welcome To 1979".

I used to use an M 15 A for about 4 years. Sold it. Regret it. Since this my pain is a little less hard… I love to use it in mixing and mastering.

Reel to Reel, DAT or Cassette, anyone still using them? I still have an ADAT XT, DAT and cassette machine in my rig, just in case someone comes in with one and needs a transfer. I also have an Otari MX5050 that I sometimes master to, or use to bounce individual tracks if they need that analog thing going on. If I could find a good used 24 track 2" for cheap, I'd probably pick it up. I'm aiming to have the option of tracking to reel or DAW, or both. While we're talking about the use of a reel, has anyone tracked to a DAW, then bounced the tracks to a 2" and back? I'm interested in the results/opinions.
