I have my doubt if the apollo can replace a nice front-end. Its one of those marketing things I mean. You do not need a neve 1073 we have it all in a box for ya...... There is a reason why young musicians want to use my gear... they know there is tiny little devil in their head that tells them that the plugs are not HW.... Just today someone asked me to track his LV with the 1073 .... You'd have to try one before you could make that judgment. Folks that haven't tried certain gear most likely get their deciding information from samples posted on these here internets. And because Apollo interfaces have gone into the hands of the masses, there are many more bad sounding samples posted than good because lets face it, not everyone is a talented person. If a person can't make a great sounding record with an Apollo, believe me, it's not the Apollo's fault. True !! (Thump UP???)

I recently consolidated and have been loving life with EA's Phoenixverb, Valhalla Vintage Verb, and UA's EMT140 and Ocean Way. Add some Echoboy and I got my bases pretty well covered. Some quality plugs, for sure. Michael Carnes did one hell of a job with Phoenix Verb. I just did two feature films in a row with it and fell in love.

Agreed....sorry--those 15 year old Waves reverbs are the reason I OWN hardware. I'm amazed they still sell the same algorithms I was using on a what Pentium 3 DAW?
The old EQs and compressors hold up well....but, the reverbs? Ehh....they're easily bested by newer algos.

It's ok.....even though i don't have an SSL on my profile pic I'll still make a good living with some aging plug. We are talking about "Definitive Guide to Plug-In Reverbs" and if this one can't make it for you well i guess you should move out of this business.

Hey Martin, you've had a problem with me since day 1 here. First when you were 777artin (and either got banned or deleted your profile), you were taking stabs about me being a dumb drummer, then you were pissed because I knew the signal flow of the Midas which you were wrong about, now you're taking shots about people with SSL's in the pics. How about instead of passive aggressive stabs at me, you post some of these unbelievable tracks that you're earning a living with for us to hear? I'm not making claims to be some unbelievable engineer, but I have steady work and am not afraid to post files for people to hear. Put up or shut up.

yikes!
I just want to plug Eventide UltraReverb. You can get it from plugindiscounts.com for $63.54 right now for at least a couple more weeks. That is a killer deal. This reverb sounds uh-mae-zing. It also has built in compression, stereo delay, EQ, modulation, and bit destruction. Pretty unique. I really love it and I expect to keep using it a lot. I mean, it's hard to argue with EVENTIDE. DPS code is taken from the H8000 hardware. Sounds as good as anything I have, plus it can get weird if you want.

I'll leave it at that with you. You're not worth a second more of my time. And yeah.....you're only a drummer.

I admit it, I made a caustic comment about a reverb plugin I don't much care for. Also, that's not an SSL on my profile pic. I wish it was, but it isn't even close. I also wish I was good enough at drums to be called a dumb drummer, but alas the best I could muster would be to called a dumb crappy drummer with no rhythm.

Just wanted to give people the head's up that Acon Digital's Verberate is on sale at JRR right now... It's like $63 or something. I just downloaded the demo so I don't have a ton of time with it yet but so far it's pretty great for the clean, natural verb thing (like EA Phoenix). Interface is simple and sounds great! I'll report back when I've had a bit more time but check it out if you get the chance That's a great deal for Verberate.
I picked it up at the normal price $99 and that was a steal IMO. It's on par with the Exponential Phoenix and R2 quality wise, different but very nice.

Having people like jcoutu1 surely isn't good for your forum John. Why did he come down on me like a little girl is questionnable in this thread.
Another reason why i'll hangout even less here.
As i once said on the other site there should be a real pro forum with paid subscription to filter out unwanted members.
