This would be a very convenient piece of kit for me right now.
Other than not having a mono sum switch, I seriously can't find a flaw.
-High voltage rail monitor controller? Check.
-True analog cue feed? Check.
-Works without a computer turned on? Check.
-USB interface to the little MacBook OR PC? Check.
-Fools send me a 192khz track to cut? Check.
-Couple extra preamps? Check. (which sound really good in the few clips posted around)
-Coax SPDIF in for the Millenia>Speck>Burl channel inputs? Check.
-Always on stereo 3/4 inputs for the Kronos to play right along side the DAW to the same monitors? Check. (now you see why always on without the computer is a plus for me)
I think I'm gonna have to change my "what are you GASsing for now" entry. This is it. Other than the huge WTF of "who makes a monitor controller without a mono sum" thing....in that thread I was saying I was "gassing" for a stripped down set up-so I guess it's not changed as much as I've put a specific piece of kit to the idea. This could literally be Kronos w/ SPL on top and MacBook. Monitors on stands and that's the studio. Well, the recording stuff in it--not like the piano and Hammond and amps and such are getting stripped down, but....hell--it works with a fucking iPad or Surface Pro!
And get this--the size of the empty surface on the right of the Kronos's top? Fits it exactly.
Anyone use this? My main concern is whether it's DAC/Attenuator is going to successfully replace the Benchmark DAC1 there now. If it will--the other stuff is auxiliary function--since I have my preamp/EQ/ADC to feed it if they don't equal up--and I have a hard time imagining they would.
