What's the take on these?

They're good stuff. Brad McGowan designed the circuit. Clean & fast and very versatile. If you're looking for a brown colored 1970's sound or a gooey tubey sound, probably not the ticket. If you're looking for a modern, crisp smooth and transparent change of character to your source, just the ticket. Most people love em that I've talked to. I had one to beta and really liked it, but I don't own any. I know some have sold their API's in favor of them. Of course YMMV as they say.

What's the take on these? I dont know how they do it but they awaken the sound. It just gets in there, brings stuff out of the source you didn't even know was there, all without bringing any attention to itself.

I was trying to think of ways to describe these last night when I saw this post and I ended up trashing my response. deehope - you nailed it. They're clean and don't add color to your sound but just bring out the very best in what you've recorded. I find that they can put incredible focus into a track when using the high pass filter and some subtle boosting almost carving out space for the track to sit in mix. I own a pair and even though they're not linkable they pretty cool on the 2 bus.

How do they do on the low end with kick and bass?

They are very good at kick and bass. The HPF and low shelf work together and really let you sculpt a very punchy lowend, I wish I hadn't sold mine because now I'm missing the hell out of it.
BTW, on vocals, might be one of the best EQ's I've ever used on vocals. Lets you do deep notches in problem areas, add a beautiful sheen to the top, and again, with using that HPF and low shelf it reminds me of the way VOG pulls the chest out of a voice. I've said this many times, this EQ will be a classic.

There's a pair for sale on the other site. Dude wants $450 for one or $850 for the pair. Wish I had the cash!
They're not mine by the way - mine aren't going anywhere.....

Come by and try one of mine, John. I like them a lot. Not as much as the RTZ 1549, but the next closest thing.

I fully concur with everything that has been said. Am I allowed to say that they are the best vocal EQ I've ever used? Brad
