OK I admit it I have this addiction, yes I have a problem, I can't help myself. If I see a sub $100 Dynamic I have to buy it! Shure, AKG, Stedman, AT, EV, man I just seam to have this thing for EV !
I have said it before I ll say it again I am going to be what John Mcbride and BlackBird is to the LDC , To the work horse Dynamic!
The Worst part is I don't track instruments that much except for some solo String stuff and for that I'm not using dynamics.
It started when I was in the Texas, and what passed for a studio, somebody's bedroom or if you were lucky garage or shed. Nobody had enough pres or the drum mixing set up was this generic made in China pre packaged mic kit ( insert name you never heard of no less used untill you saw this thing) where the case was probably the most useable thing. So during my weekly Pilgrame of Pawn I Started picking stuff up 57s, ATM63s Cheap AKG.
Now I have over 50 of these things, the goal. Is 6 of each.
The worst part is they do almost pay for themselves because of the guys I have met over the years know I have this stuff! The 2 AKG D 1200s and D 1000 spend more time with a guy in Houston who loves them on drums !
Or my EV 308s are out on tour because the sound Co. Would rather sub them than buy a bunch and have them sit on the shelf 99% of the time. Yes I have a problem.
