I start to feel sorry for those companies. The story goes like this. OK I got a brand new mail by them that goes like: HI buddy we have done a revolutionary new IR reverb plug in blah blah..... But to be fair I went to the site to listen to one audio demo. I was not sure if I should cry or should I laugh out loud? www.overloud2.com/media/common/rematrix/01.Drums.wav

This is what happens when the market becomes flooded with products. What do you do? You try and create a tool that no one else has thought of, etc. This plug is quite over the top for what I do in terms of music production but might actually be useful for sound design/special fx.

You know I am not saying it cant be useful; but for music production even a noisy Midiverb II, for 30 bucks from e-bay, is much more enjoyable. Their first take Breverb, a synthesized Reverb, was pretty good. I ask myself why donĀ“t they go further with it?
Breverb I / II / III / IV etc.
True the market is overloaded with a lot of tools no one needs. And thats the reason why places like GS become a kids toy place.

Yepp, the BREVERB sounds pretty good. I have a cut down version integrated in Sonar and it's very usable. Nothing like...ehm...what i just heard. What a concept is this? Seems too complex for a creative effect reverb. (Btw. i would like to see something pragmatic but creative like a Vortex type of effect plugin showing up on the market...)

Ya know, it's not something that I could see myself using, but I imagine that it could have it's place in certain styles. Maybe some industrial or something. It kind of makes the ok drums sound raw. Maybe if you're looking for that raw, unfocused sound.

Right Sir or doing something incredible nice like the UAD EMT 140 Plate. If there would not be the plate I would sell my UAD card. The UAD Plate sounds a lot like the plates I know from records. Wide open lush splash - very nice on SD. The UAD Plate proofs it can be done ITB. Why the hell most of the rerverb-plug cant compete with my hardware.

Yepp, the UAD EMT140 is great. Maybe Nebula programs of a EMT140 can compete, but lack handyness.
But well - what this reMatrix seems to aim at, a effect verb for creative stuff, is hard to manage, if it is not intuitive to use. I don't see interesting concepts that combine simplicity of concept with this goal. Too bad.

I send a praier to heaven when I got my Yamaha Reverb 500 from ebay. The user interface is just pure logic, the most often used parameters Pre Delay / Rev Time / HI Ratio and ER level are on the front of the unit. They stare at you.

I'd like to hear it in a mix. That's because a lot of finished mixes will have that kind of huge mashup of reverb on them to get it to stand out in a dense mix. What I heard doesn't sound unreasonable for solo'd drums.

What I heard doesn't sound unreasonable for solo'd drums. 99% of the companies do not show full mixes. I remember reverb demos which have been unusable in a mix because they simple does not cut. One reason why I went from ITB to OTB its just easier to do. Do I like the unit yes no..... with plugs you get overflowed with possibilities.

Agreed. i like hardware reverb too, and pretty much have to use it since I'm mostly outboard and mix OTB as well. However, I just wanted to mention something that a lot of folks might not have known, which is that there is usually a LOT more effect (reverb/delay,etc) on professional recordings than most people understand or think they hear. It's not unheard of to have multiple reverbs on snares alone, then more verb on the kit, with possibly each close mic reverb send being EQ'd or even another different reverb for things like toms. This might be in conjunction with actual recorded reverb from room mics too! The difference is that it's used much like compression is used by the "big boys", judiciously. Small amounts in layers rather than one big one, to create depth and space where there was none before.

I think even reverb is up to taste. IMO I can use 80s alike big amounts of HW verb. A few weeks ago I mixed a Gary More stile cover "Still got the Blues" for my Guitar students. I was surprised that the lead guitar was in the center and the reverb was indeed BIG.
I tried the same with SW and its a nightmare the solo guitar is no longer in the center position.
