I've been looking at this since it came. Really boring kind of gear/investment, but being able to use pedals (my old MXR phasers!) in a mix seems less boring. As it would speed up the process a LOT I think I'd actually would start to use pedals. Any thoughts? www.tkaudio.se/index.php/products/transceiver

Oh, well, looks like the "pro" version of the very, very cheap "Etek" 16x DI/Level Adj./unbal/bal/whatever tool wants to be, that i have flying around somewhere here and that i neverever used. (At least i heard i could power it with a 21V wallwart instead of the included 15V one to make it somehow usable/acceptable...) Why not? Pedals can for sure be cool tools in your arsenal. Analog Phasers and Flangers sound like fun!

Radial does this sort of thing too: Radial EngineeringLook under the "REAMPING" tab. I just bought an X-Amp, but haven't used it yet. Supposed to be quality stuff; my JDI direct box works very well, mostly as a DI for bass. The ground lift alone is worth the price of admission, and the Jensen transformer seems totally transparent to me.

If your I/O is electrically differential (+ and - signals) then all you need to do is ground the unused input pin (-) and go into the + pin. The output doesn't need a differential load usually.
If it's transformer based I/O then both the unused input and output pins need to be grounded.
If the I/O is only balanced (impedance on the I/O pins are the same but do NOT have to be differential) then it's the same as the electrically differential signal.
The only thing that the box offers is gain and/or buffering that might be needed for using external devices.

Thanks for the input guys! svart I believe I get what you are saying, that a box lke this doesn't have to be that complicated or expensive. But having it in a box like this would be super convenient for me. I'd put the thing close to a sliding producer's desk in my main rack, so I could put pedals on that desk and use short TRS to plug into the Tranciever. I'll get a demo unit over in a couple of weeks.

The Pigtronix Keymaster is made for this. I use one all the time as part of both my home and live rigs and it works great. You may be able to build something similar.

Looks very nice. I use a D'accapo reamp box and a Klark Teknik DN 100 Active DI for reamping duties.
