That's the software business model. Whenever there's a deep discount sale, I can almost assure you there's a new product coming out that they want people to be excited enough about their "new inexpensive/deal plug in" that they pay to upgrade it, which is often not discounted through dealers.
This is the drawback to software (and consumer OS PC) based "gear". If it's not a stand alone unit with audio IO....it's expense money-not captial.

Too bad Tony but FF does offer cumulative discounts.
I know always the come on but I bit the bullet a few months back and bought one of their packs: very happy with that decision !

I like it a lot. The 96 db slope on the filters is worth the price.

Here's a demonstration of EQ matching from Russ at Pro Tools Expert:
Good stuff!

I like it a lot. The 96 db slope on the filters is worth the price. +1! The 96db slope is really nice. The natural phase mode is fantastic, however apparently has an issue with certain Q's, I read about this issue on "another website". Fabfilter already responded stating the issue will be corrected soon with an update. I gotta say, Pro Q v1 was my first Fabfilter product. I now use Pro Q(v2), Pro L and Pro MB in every session. Amazing to "do what you need to do" without really leaving a footprint per se. And the speed of the UI is like no other. I made the jump to PT11 awhile ago, I am interested in comparing Pro L to the much hyped not yet released FGX 2.0.

Man - maybe it's just me wanting it to be, but I swear the natural phase and the whole top end sounds better.

Just realized the project I'm using this on I'm using 88.2, so maybe the higher sample rate is the quality I'm hearing...I just know treating the high end on my acoustics was easy as pie...don't know whether it's the EQ or the sample rate.

See the Lavry thread, sample rate and plug performance are inextricably combined 8)

Late to the party....but, very nice improvement, IMO. The "natural phase" seems to be what I'm using....and the autogain is THE feature.....it's the reason I've gravitated back to using Steinberg's StudioEQ plug for most of my utility EQ work--saves me futzing with output gains. This one works--AND works in M/S, unlike Steiny's. And Linear Phase, though, it still doesn't sound better than the old Waves in LP made. And Tilt, baby--WITH autogain!
But the combo of autogain, M/S, Tilt, Natural and Linear Phase operation makes this the plug to beat for your "every track" EQ, I think.
IK's pultec is still magic when you want to lift high frequencies....but, I think during this demo phase I"m going to try to ONLY use those two EQs. If I can, this is a no brainer purchase, since I'm on a huge "less is more" kick.

Popmann you think the features put it above Cubase Studio EQ, are you primarily using Pro Q2 now? And is there any obvious difference in sound quality?

Well, my argument "against" it previously, is nice UI aside, in normal mode it sounded just like the Cubase EQ (or Logic....or mostly any vanilla DAW EQ)....and it didn't sound as good as my old Waves Linear Phase (from the mastering bundle) for that mode. So, the only advantage was that it would function in M/S mode for that occasional need. Not worth the dough. IMO, obviously. But, now that it's featureset is better....it has more of a chance to be a single EQ plug to rule them all. Except the Pultec. Shit--they should add a passive modeled saturating high frequency mode! then it could be my ONLY EQ! Ha.

Thanks for the reply. I can't seem to get rid of Pultecs either. I'm kind of obsessed by them. Do you have a hardware or do you use plugins? right now my go-to Pultecs are Waves and UAD-2, I used to use softube a bit but not lately. Obviously I'd like to build one or two down the line, or try a knock off like the Lindell 500 series thing.
I've been using Equilibrium, but Pro Q 2 has dazzling appeal so I might make the switch.
The only other EQ I can't seem to escape is the semi-frequent API 550, I'm going to need something like that, too. Waves is "OK" but I'm sure it can be beat.
Oops I like a 5 or 7 band super transparent kind of thing for mastering or 2-bus too, sometimes. I guess that sums up my bare essentials.

Just finished my first feature film and about two months worth of reality TV shows with Pro Q2. The EQ match, while not perfect, gets me there quick and dirty at times, which in a pinch is just what to doctor ordered. I'm a fan of the Natural Phase as well.

The eq match must be a godsend for your work. Especially for audio that's redubbed I imagine.

Holy hell, I can't say much about specifics, but there was an off camera read that was looped in by a different actor that we were able to make track because of the EQ Match (as well as luck in casting).
