They look cool and the prices are good . I'm unsure about them though because they are located in South East Asia . Would they use cheap parts from china ?? And theres shipping costs to the USA .

Not bad pric ewise!
I've been very tempted to build a Fender Champ style head with 2 knobs - One for Master Volume and one for Negative Feedback. However I've yet to source a suitable transformer for any reasonable price.

Expensive transformer. It does sound great though.

I was looking at these for a future Marshall build, but the shipping price really increases things.

I would start with a 5F1 Champ or a 5E3 Tweed Deluxe. I started with the Mission Amps 5E3 and it's my favorite recording amp.
I've also built one of Nik's amps (ceriatone)--i bought the chassis and bare board from Nik and sourced all of the other parts here in the US b/c i wanted to go top shelf with the parts (and transformers are expensive to ship!). It was the 18W TMB with EF86 channel. Love that amp. I can't vouch for his kits, but his service is top notch.
Can't go wrong with either, IMO.
cheers, wade

I'm unsure about them though because they are located in South East Asia . Would they use cheap parts from china ?? And theres shipping costs to the USA . Nik is in Singapore and the shipping of a metal chassis and board to VA took 3 days and was like $15. Nik is top notch all around. I was skeptical at first too--but I can't recommend him enough. Just don't ship a head cabinet or speakers or transformers and you'll be fine. I would get the schematic/layout for the amp you want to build, get the board and chassis from Nik. Then order the resistors and components from someone like Watts, Mojo or Mouser, and then source local transformers. I used ClassicTone transformers in my 18W build and they sound excellent.

Your even building the wood case yourself , now thats DIY ! Love that purple too . Thanks! Building that amp was a lot of fun an it went together extremely quickly. The EF86 side is VERY Vox-like, and the TMB side is just gobs and gobs of Marshall-inspired goodness. Sounds amazing through a pair of Scumback H75's. And yeah, I dabble in woodworking too. I thoroughly enjoy it. I've built all of my speaker cabinets (aside from my vintage amps). I enjoyed building that head cab--it's done but I haven't updated the thread--but I won't be building another one. Between the time and materials I put into it, it'll DEFINITELY be cheaper to buy a custom-built one next time! But the way I see it, you don't really have an appreciation for this sort of thing until you've done it yourself soup to nuts at least once. I love the purple too. I did something with purple and black and gold piping on the front panel. It looks pretty slick. I need to get some pictures posted. cheers, wade
