Hi everyone,
I have an Apollo X8P and tend to use UAD DLX microphones primarily for santoor and tabla. We usually record together and in stereo so using 6 inputs (dlx needs two per mic) is pretty normal. I've wanted to add "the next thing" to my studio and I'm thinking about adding the Grace m108, but am open to alternatives.
In my head I would use adat to go from the grace to the Apollo X8P. So I'd use the grace as the master clock and for AD.
Here is a reference video of what our instruments sound like:
Is the Grace m108 the way to go sonically? Or perhaps someone could suggest something else?
Then for my next next purchase (maybe in one to two years) I’m thinking about Neve MBT (or MBP) and add some color to the tabla and Santoor mix busses separately. More so on tabla than Santoor.
Let me know your thoughts and suggestions!

if you are using unison plugins or the UA mic plugins (for the DLX mics) in UA console, then you might consider adding a second Apollo. I'm sure the M108 would work great too (8 nice clean preamps) but it will be "different" in behavior since it is just preamps connected via ADAT.

The grace will have much much better converters and mic pres. My assistant is all in with Apollo's. Has 2 I think and uses the quad stuff like crazy. He just bought an m108 after using them at work with me for the last three years.
It is very good. There are also some good options cards you can get later such as a DA card for your monitors, Dante card, hdx. Ect.
They are great units. And very good sounding.

Thank you for the replies! I think I'm going to pull the trigger. I've talked to the salesman that I may return it if I don't like it. They were more than happy. I'm going to order the MBT as well on a trial basis. Will let you know how it all goes.
