WAIT a second. They got access to the original algorithms!? That's crazy. I wish it was released as a plugin, though!!!!
Also, people are reporting essentially 0% CPU hit from the reverb, unlike the Quantum Evolution and the Relab emulations, which take a TON of CPU.
What else am I missing by not using Logic?

Good thing I picked up the Quantec plugin like three months ago. Sigh.
Cheers, Geoff

One time cost, free updates and always current os certified ! Also: A really excellent and large number of fantastic stock plugins A second-to-none set of virtual instruments, loops, and samples An incredible and endlessly tweakable virtual drummer (and now bassist and keys too I think) A mastering assistant to show areas of your mix that may need attention I bought it in 2010 and I don't think it will ever be topped as the best $200 I've ever spent on music making.

Dude. These Quantec's are so lush sounding and zero CPU hit.
Really makes you wonder what all these other plugin coders are doing...
The enhance, freeze and add buttons are so fun.
Lack of plugin search is what drove me away from Logic so long ago.
Feels like coming home.

Big companies have the big bucks to buy the original source code or design of many vintage effects, like what happened here. This is a great way to lock users into a DAW.
I love Reaper, but I will jump ship to whichever DAW maker buys/ports the Eventide H3000 algorithms.
There's a ton of old code from vintage FX that needs porting and which is economically infeasible to perform.

The H3000 is a tougher nut to crack I think due to the chips it used but I agree, that would be ship jump worthy.
I'll never forget the first time I heard my voice through my H3000... "Oh, that's how they got that magic vocal sound on so many of my favorite records...."
It sounds HUUUUUUGGGGGEEEE

I don't think anyone will ever match the magic of a real H3000 in a plugin but I really hope I am wrong.

I don't think anyone will ever match the magic of a real H3000 in a plugin but I really hope I am wrong. As far as I know, Eventide still has the source code (it hasn't been lost like for many Lexicons). I'm sure most of the magic is in the algorithms, but there's some magic in the converters, too. But the converter part isn't that hard to emulate, I believe.

As I understand it the problem is not the source code. New code has to be written to emulate the old DSP chips that run that original source code as the flaws in the chips are a big part of the sound. I did notice this open source project emulating similar chips, might be a starting point: dsp56300.wordpress.com/ostirus-downloads/

I guess we'll hear a lot of M83/shoegaze type of vocals soon. The Yardstick tails are perfect for those.
CPU hit is minimal. I was able to run 100 drummer tracks with 5 instances on each of them with ease on a M3 Max. I will be using this a lot.
Wouldn't mind Apple acquiring Lexicon PCM algorithms next.

This is neat! I never really got along with the ChromaVerb algo reverb, nice to have a good sounding alternative.
