When I saw Tchad Blake in the testimonials section I became even more interested. I always thought Soundtoys should have done this.

I'm glad to see some units that haven't been modeled yet coming out! Sounds like there is a lot of character 🔥 Looking forward to demoing it soon.

Interesting - the entire point of the unit originally was to peak limit before the signal got to your recording device. They are really cool sounding when you abuse the circuit and dirty them up, but it wasn’t the intended use.

Yeah it has an incredibly fast limiter for brief peaks followed by a slower but still fast limiter. The vintage one here has that very digitally dirty sound. I put it into plugin doctor and it aliases like crazy. I don’t get it. There’s already what comes with the DAW and stuff like Rough Rider for that. The clean mode is better and just okay. I guess it’s cool to have a digital model of the circuit but I don’t see how it’s better as a peak limiter or tool than any decent digital limiter that can detect true peaks and switch between a clipper or almost instant stage to a slower release? Oxford Limiter, Xenon, Limiter 6 limiter, Pro L, L1 Anniversary Edition are all true peak capable beyond just oversampling the clipper to make sure the output of the misfiring limiter doesn’t exceed 0 dbfs true peak.

I tried to demo this, but when I put my credentials into the registration page, I never got the follow up email.

AudioPunks is using the trial version on their own product's demo video?
On one hand it smacks of cheapness, on the other hand perhaps it's brilliant because it shows that they're confident in the trial and that the trial doesn't have any beeps or boops that pop in every 10 seconds.
On YouTube through a mobile phone, the processed version definitely sounded... like it had higher volume :-P It was definitely compressed as well, the tonality was pretty smashed. I like smash.
i have the olde CBS Max Bros duo (Audimax 444 AGC and Volumax 400 limiter). I mostly use them conservatively cuz they can get a bit noisy. But now I'm curious if I can generate the same smashy sound. I'll try to give it a go this weekend and upload an example here on drums and vocals like in the video.

It doesn’t work. It doesn’t limit. The fast attack sounds defective.
