I have sworn myself to not use more than two rackspaces of TT patchbay after i did the new cabling a few years ago. (i stopped counting after the first bay had 700+ solder contacts i had to do) I wish BLA good luck and i have fond memories of a good BLA modded piece i used long ago, but god shall strike me down with a lightningbolt if any more inches of TT are entering the door.... (the nurse leading me back into my padded room after a solder-induced breakdown...) It doesn't count that i wouldn't have to solder anything on that BLA.

I have one. It's great! Added 8 channels of EQ, and didn't have to get into my TT bays. Great concept!

Bit of a related question: Is TT used much these days for new installations? I imagine they probably exists to a large extent in older large studios, but do people prefer them over 1/4" for density? I imagine the added cost is a factor.

I imagine the added cost is a factor. I have a little desktop 8x8 Switchcraft TT bay - it's brilliant as I only needed 8x8 plus my 16x16 XLR bay.

I don't think this is a new product (unless I'm mistaken), and I heard somewhere that it has been discontinued. Is this a different chassis than what I'm thinking?

The old one had little blocky looking patchpoints. If I end up getting another 500-series, I'll probably spring for this so I don't have to dig more in back of my racks.

TT is still very much used due to the density and the superiority of the switching jacks themselves, last I check Switchcraft TT had twice the life expectancy of a Switchcraft 1/4 switching jack.

I have 7 spaces of self built TT patchbays lol They are all DB25x12 on the rears Contrary to interweb myth if you by quality dsubs, wire them cleanly, ground and shield them properly they are not noisy and completely secure

Been around a couple shiny new LFACs (API, NEVE, Daking) the last few years and they all have TT bays.

That's a super-elegant idea. It makes so much sense, I can't believe nobody thought of it before...! Aphex and The discontinued API 4 space 500 racks had tt and 1/4" balanced on the rear. I have an old Aphex box that just sits near my patchbay.

What’s the quality like for this chassis, including the power supply? Because I do love the idea of the integrated patch points. I have the original one, before the redesign and it used Heritage Audio OST for power. Not sure if the new one does, but BLA's website says the new one has the same power per rail. Specs look the same on both, they just don't mention OST on the new one. The rack has been flawless for me, I have it stuffed with 2 x Great River eq's, 2 x CAPI eq's, and 4 x Tonelux.
