I'm going to be building another room kinda soon and have a line on a well-priced LiveMix cue system that we could use for the new setup. I'm not personally familiar, but in reading about them, they seem really cool. I'm wondering if any RGOers have used them and have any insight to share. Thanks!

That’s what I chose for the studio I helped build and am working out of. It’s great and far more powerful than I’ve been using. I probably should get more into it.
I do find the headroom a bit lacking on occasion. I’ve learned to keep everything pretty-low sending to it and having the LEDs on the AD-24 is great. If you see red at all, you’re too hot. Only problem is having enough volume for the older-deaf-musician folks. I find everything is in the last 1/4 of available range for them and on occasion, max-out. Go listen to their headphones after the session and everything is blaring! It’s funny when the entire band is on phones at the same time. You have one half saying they still can’t hear hear anything and the other half saying how great it sounds and they can hear everything clearly!

OK as much as I have a slight Conflict because our sister Company Intelix pretty much invented the concept. I hat the things😁.
The 3 things I’ll say for Aviom is they seam to be slightly better built, they have a n interface option for almost every rig and hear is the biggy, pretty damn easy to find systems or components used.

We use avioms now at my current place. The new second room we’re building is an opportunity to explore other options, and to be honest I don’t totally LOVE the aviom mixer. It’s fine for me, an engineer, but I find a lot of musicians struggle to make sense of it. One big appeal of the livemix thing is the now-ubiquitous touch screen. Anither is the fact I can tie into individual boxes from the control room and make adjustments to each persons mix. This is similar to the hearback system we use at berklee, buuuuuut that system has its own problems that I’m nervous might also present in the livemix…. |

I had one of the Behringer systems (P16 and P16M I think) and it was pretty decent and easy to use. I got rid of it because even though it was inexpensive, it was overkill for me at the time (when I switched to the Apollo 16 and I no longer had a bunch of ADAT outs). But I couldn't tell you how it compares to the others. I just thought it was pretty flexible (and could be loud). The other thing is I have several different kinds of headphones - if one is not loud enough, sometimes a different one is (or get some that have more isolation). That usually helps me in the "I can't hear myself" category. Tracking headphones don't even have to sound pretty.  |

The bes implementations I have seen (studio or live) all have had a monitor console with an experienced hand behind them to both build stems and do housekeeping. |

You would think the actual headphone amp would be a priority on these systems but it always seems like an afterthought! I mean why on a personal headphone mixing system would you even think a decent headphone amp that can drive just about anything would be a priority. Nothing like a client calling the manufacturer and finding out the headphones they have known and loved for years really are a problem with the amp section. |
