Anything else with that 4 pres + 8 channels of conversion layout, but a smaller form factor?

Because.... you don't have room for two rack spaces?

This may well be what I end up with Portability is paramount. That said, the specs show the UAD710 isn't quite as heavy as I thought it would be from the size of the thing.

Midas XL48. AES/ADAT/Analog outputs. This looks great. Digging all the outs. Any word on these pre's vs the audients? (I'll do some searching on that). Looks like I may not find anything other than the 710d which has 4 pres but 8 channels of conversion - was looking to pair this with a Lunchbox containing a few nice pres and have it convert everything.

It has line inputs too.

You can hit the Audient converters direct using its inserts

I don't think so. Parrell mix/line. I do think so... Not gonna argue more about it.

I don't think so. Parrell mix/line. I do think so... Not gonna argue more about it. The line inputs are just padded mic inputs, not separate line inputs. The line ins still go through the mic pre circuitry. As jontheriffer said, it's Parallel mic/line inputs.

Looks like you guys never worked on Midas consoles before. Remember Audient is a kissing Cousin of Midas, the XL200 was a Davis Deardon design, While 99% of the time I would rather the Midas Pre, For Classical Id lean towards Audient.

Looks like you guys never worked on Midas consoles before. Are you kidding me? We're not talking about Midas consoles here, we're talking about the 1U rackmount solution. There are no inputs on that box that avoid the preamp circuitry. There isn't even a switch to switch to line mode, just a pad. Page 25 shows that. www.midasconsoles.com/assets/XL48-Mic-Pre-amp-Manual_M_WW.pdfDo a little research before being condescending next time. Ohh yeah, look at that, a pic of my Midas.

That's what i was saying : you have never used a Midas console. What I'm saying: you don't understand signal flow.

Sure...What ever.
I'll stop arguing with a drummer and his chinese mixer.
To the OP : sorry for this GS type argument.
Let's get back to the original topic.

Haha, indeed! It's either pay for a few extra pre's, or just get a standalone coverter. Guess I got some thinking to do.

Oh man - on my first rgo thread too, hahaha. The Midas looks great, but it does indeed look like all inputs go through the pre circuit. Certainly points for all solutions presented here. That TP8 would be fantastic, but I think I need to get my vocal chain in order before grabbing that and upgrading my interface/converters.
