The 3rd party intro pack teasers are crack forcing you to shell out for full functionality. It's a profitable agreement between companies to extract more funds from us. I haven't seen one yet that was of any use to me unless I bought into the full package. If I already have a tool I'm not buying another. Especially software. YMMV I think "forcing" is kind of a strong word here... Melodyne ARA is massively useful even in its unpaid version. Of course the full version is better, but I'd hardly call the free version useless.

Bug free and accurate MIDI would be a great upgrade? The rest is rock solid. I can't see myself using any of this "new" stuff. MIDI is more accurate in the new version. They retooled the delay compensation for MIDI and people seem to be digging it. I don't use a ton of MIDI in my work, so I can't really speak to this in any detail, but my colleagues who are more MIDI-centric are psyched. I'll tell you what I absolutely LOVE in the new version: the revamped Import Session Data window. Holy cow, it's awesome. One of those "sleeper features" that makes me do a freakin' backflip every time I use it. 🤓🤣 The new lower dock is cool too. As PT adds more and more ARA and clip-level functionality, I'm psyched to see some options for customizing the workflow and UI here. This is all great news thanks. I bet I'll dig the import session data improvements, I spend a lot of time importing stuff from other studios, and other past mixes / productions > and it is a PITA in general. Midi sync bug is sorted - YES !
Finally the right time for me to update both OS and PT now all the silicon issues and bugs have been ironed out.

I just read that this version finally has actual "playlists" for MIDI tracks which should be really nice. I wanted it to have that in the past and was pretty frustrated when it did not work the same as audio playlists!

Yeah - haven’t pulled anything in since I went to 2024.10, so the session data thing sounds interesting.

Did you update to that version already or had you skipped it? Or am I maybe missing some deeper changes? Regardless, you're so right. It's awesome!

Hm...maybe I'm confused, but I don't think so (though I just did have a rather large litre of delicious Czech pilsner so.....). Did 2024.6 have the color-coded match/partial match/new track info and all the key command functionality? The color coding is HUGE, and the way it handles matching is awesome, and I'm 99% sure that wasn't in 2024.6.

I still have to look into 2024.10, but the big overhal to the Import Session Data was in 2024.6

The linking, the color coding...you'll see eventually. It's fantastic. Totally NOT 'marquee' stuff for the casual user, but absolutely game-changer level stuff for the professional or serious user. It's freaking awesome.
