I sat down yesterday and for the first time and watched it start to finish with the kid. First of all I’m not trying to be a self indulgent arrogant prick, I was lucky damn lucky to walk into a situation where Smart, Electric Audio & Music Head / Sound Sumitt, probably the 3 most influential studios of the 80/90’s were my clients. But yeah it really is weird watching a movie where you sit there and go “ yeah I know every single person in this thing”. Trying to explain to the kid 1/2 of these people were at my wedding reception!
Wendy, did an excellent job of capturing the vibe of what was, my dear if only you were straight you would have been the girl of my dreams ( well Norah Jones has a Neve & M49’s”. Watch it you will learn something, I was there and still learned a ton!

Well Norah does appear to have good taste in outboard gear. In addition to being extraordinarily talented. And kinda fetching.

Isn't "Smart" and "Studio" an oxymoron? Perspective; as a studio owner, yes as their gear pimp why the most intelligent decision they ever made😁 That said I can think of at least 5 others who tried to make it within about a mile radius of Smart that failed with 2 years. The only ones that were successful were Audio for the Arts that was founded by the former TD for Prarie Home Companion who has the benefit of the fact that his original landlord did all the TV & Radio Spots for the Democratic Party in the Midwest ( I have heard Buzz’s VO work all over the country.) the other predates Smart, the Original Full Compass Studios were started about a mile down East Washington, Smart’est move Jonathan Lipp made, becoming an audio crack dealer 😁 |

It really is a crappy little building, I don’t think Madison would except anything else in it, maybe a bar, but there are at least 10 in 3 block radius, mind you that’s down from about 20 when I lived 4 blocks away! |
