My current set up is Tube Mic (47) -> Tube pre -> Tube compressor. Ha....
Sounds great to me. AND I have a baritone voice.
Without the room treatment I've got I'm sure it'd be ridiculous, but If I stay about 6-8 inches (sometimes a little more) from my mic, with a properly treated recording environment, it sounds awesome.
I like my CMV563 into the Useful Arts quite a bit. |

I forgot about the Art tube pre/Great River slayer/mud maker. Honestly that thing is awful.
Iirc no less than our Dr. Bill described the Joly/oktava as somewhat 67ish without the tube heft.
And I should probably just patch in the Vcomp more often to see if that will get me where I want to go instead of just giving in to what I hope is momentary GAS.
I also have the largely loathed Avalon 737 out on long term loan. No it is not particularly vibey although there are tubes.
