214 stinks. 414XLII is hollowed out in the wrong place. Same thing is true for the 414xls, which I would never use for acoustic especially with a D28(mine is a nicely aged 1973 main acoustic for recording also) The perception series... oh brother, please. Friends don't let friends... if you catch my drift.
Out of the AT series the 4050 and 2050 sound very believable. 4033 not so much, 4040 sounds like an XL2.
The BLUE Blueberry and woodpecker are both passable. Blurbird brings out some high mid nastiness and a carved out 3-4K point that will make it hard to get to sit in the mix.
Honorable mention: DPA4099, Neumann TLM102, NTK, sE VR1.
I hope this helps someone....but great thanks to barforama for putting this up for everyone's consideration!!! Good on ya.

man, that's a ton of mics. thanks for posting, that martin sounds beautiful, I didn't get tired of hearing it.
this also verified my experience that choosing a mic is kind of a huge deal for acoustic guitars

I quite like the VR1 on acoustic instruments. Has a really nice top end for a ribbon mic.
