Like the Sonarworks AI vocals plugin? I’ve got a bass part that is breaking up when I didn’t want it to break up…
That tech is just unbelievable. There’s still a “tell” - IDK what it is - some kind of buzzyness to the vocal or something. But the way it adopts your guide tracks accent and everything is just spooky. Didn’t know if there was something like that that could replace this bass.

I just used Logic's Bass AI on a project to get a quick reference part down. I just plugged in the chords and it sounded great; Hammers, pulloffs, slides and the ability to adjust intensity/complexity, etc. I know you're not a big Logic fan, but man, there are some really nice things it can do that are dead simple to implement.

The client is the one that told me it was “clipping.” It’s actually not clipping, it’s palm muted for like a Carole Kaye thing. It was fine - I guess he wasn’t familiar with the somewhat percussive attack. I always called that tic tac bass…but apparently, that’s doubling with another bass type instrument. Like a Bass 6 or something. Basically - like the bass from Wichita Lineman.

It doesn’t mask over a part like the AI voices do, right? Did that make any sense?

Like Drummer, it's just a smart VI with a limited bag of tricks, but what it does, it does very well. And also like drummer, once you get a performance out of it that's close you can covert it to midi and tweak it with the piano roll.

Can you use Melodyne and export as MIDI?

Sounds like you want to feed a Bass VI your already-recorded-bass-part and have the Bass VI play that part instead - is that it? If so, EZBass will do that. I believe you sold me your copy of EZBass, which I then eventually sold to Wiz, mainly because I'd forgotten it can do the exact thing you're asking for. But yeah, it should be able to do what you need. And I think it's on sale right now? I usually buy my Toontrack stuff from these guys. Best prices I've found: www.bestservice.com/en/ezbass.html

But that might be something to think about when I’m tracking my stuff. Play it, then maybe there’s a cooler tone in there somewhere.

I might actually have to pick up EZB at $125 or whatever for that feature alone. I need to watch a couple videos on that feature.

I did this recently with Melodyne and Mondo Bass and it worked great. In Studio One you can just drag the Melodyne blobs into a VI track and it converts it to MIDI. I had to do some hand correction of course since the conversion had a bit of trouble with some of the slides and things but for my purposes (reinforcing the track, not replacing it) it was a fast and effective approach.
