A finished studio is a beautiful thing. Enjoy your peace of mind !
the LL2A has the 660 time constants, according to the Tapeop (or was it SOS ?) review. Pendulum audio analog emulation inside !

Finally after starting with a Tascam Porta 1 at 18 years old I'm finally completely happy with my rig. I walk into my studio space and there's nothing I want to add - everything I need and want is there to hand. It's only taken me 43 years Has anyone one else got to this point - the end of GAS! ?? I’ll save you the trouble and just start the “I thought I was done buying gear, but…” thread now. Just post when ready. Or if you wish to remain incognito and forego the inevitable admission of the return of GAS, I’ll look for the new member “thelowbass” in the “latest gear you’ve acquired” thread. 😂

I'm mostly done. But I'm not naive enough to think that I'm COMPLETLY done with GAS. Come on man, we live in reality, not dreamland. LOL Racks of gear? FULL - 220 RU and no more available. Check. √ Guitars? I've got some of everything, and I can't really even play (Keyboard player). Check. √ Keyboards? I've got the vintage classics, and I end up using VI's just as much. Check. √ Studio? Beautifully designed and laid out room. Check. √ Mics? Pushing towards 100, and I don't use those enough. Why do I need more? Check. √ Space has really become my real GAS problem. There's just not enough room, and to add something, I've literally got to pull something out of the racks / studio. And I've pretty much already pulled everything that I don't love so..... Yeah. I've moved on and pushed my GAS into other areas. Right now....Jeeps. Just Empty Every Pocket. It can't really compete with musical gear, but it gives it a run for the money. The Gladiator is looking pretty sweet these days, but it's about reached the end of the GAS road too. Big Tires/Wheels, Lift, Armour, Blingy stuff, Lights....Done. The real money pit is helping son no. 1 get his racing motor business up and running. THAT can give musical gear a serious go... Vintage mics start to seem cheap when you're staring down a Dyno and fully equipped shop..... Not sure I've got the money or will power to survive that one....

Let me just say that you will like this. Its such a simple, awesome compressor. I have two. Do you know how it compares to a TLA-50 or even a LA-2A which name suggest it is heavily inspired by? It’s different than them. I am not technically savvy enough to explain how though. It is especially great for tracking in my experience.

Do you know how it compares to a TLA-50 or even a LA-2A which name suggest it is heavily inspired by? the ll2a is nothing like them other than emulating a vintage type transfer curve and being voltage linear instead of logarithmic and they’re all compressors. LL2A uses Analog Devices 4 quadrant analog multipliers (AD633) to make a linear Vca compressor with a fast attack and slow release or moderate attack and very slow overall release with of course program dependencies and a soft knee and ratio inspired by the classic optos and varimus. Seems very similar to the Anamod VCA Fairchilds, Daking vca compressors, and others where they use modern parts to get vintage behavior more consistently. All of the optical sensors will eventually go away because of the cadmium sulfide bans too. All that being said and I’m sure they’re great but: Noise performance and ability to not over compress at greater gain reductions cannot be as good as a good modern THAT logarithmic VCA or a functional, logarithmic digital compressor and those have existed for a couple decades. The distortion as a leveler will be higher than one with RMS detection. These are pretty much just cool facts and not intended to distract anyone from purchasing one or any other “vintage style with modern parts” compressor. Who wouldn’t take anything Daking over a dbx? The LL2A demos online seem awesome and simple compressors that don’t sound bad are always appreciated!

I'm putting my two boys through university, eldest finishes his Masters next year and the youngest has two years to go and then hopefully I can take my foot off the gas (no pun intended) work wise. I'm in a fortunate position that I do still have a few pennies set aside I could spend on more gear - but honestly I have a lost a bit of interest in getting a new compressor or pre-amp my irritations and disappointments in the studio and composing room is ME! I'm just left with the feeling these days, if only I was a bit more talented - a new comp or pre-amp isn't going to take that feeling away. So these days my big focus is on improving my craft not improving my rack and mic locker - my personal goals don't lay there anymore. But I DO love reading on this forum about other people getting excited about their new purchases .... I'm definitely not making bad of GAS.

i more or less am in your situation. i have all it takes to make great recordings and mixings. instruments, mics, preamps, a few HW comps, monitors, plugins, room treatment. so no excuses. i decided to add only quality products, so i ordered a stam audio 609 mk2. lets see how this will work out and for how long.
