Turns out it is alive and mostly well.
I signed up for the beta: just got it. There is a demo video, it’s very well developed and seems fully operational.
I’ll check it out properly and report back. It seems to me that if you use slate drums, this will be a no brainer. First impression is, it seems in between logic drummer and ezy drummer gui, meaning useful.

I've got SSD 5.
Is this a free update?

It’s just in beta, so not released yet.
Don’t know about price, but is designed to work with ssd5.
Basically, looks like you delete current Grooves folder in Ssd5,library, install new Grooves folder which contains the new AI function and new gui.
There’s basically two functions: one works off your step sequencer, you drop in the basic pattern you are thinking about:grooves AI presents you with options that you can morph.
Or, load in a song part, again grooves AI presents you with options, which you can morph.
This happens in the new ssd5 gui, but you can load into your daw and take it from there .

You can load in any song part as a wav clip and in the step function identify the song part and link the grooves together, like: verse, prechorus , chorus and then move to your daw.
So far, I have just been watching the demo video: will likely try it tomorrow.

If you put in a support request at slate drums and request the beta, I think they will send you a link.

two screenshots of new gui, one is for you put in the beat you want and then it searches for similar beats ranked by %, you can demo each the other. you drop in or browse for a file, so that can be a mix or whatever part you want in logic I had to bounce the file to create it, (intro, verse etc.) would be more slick if you could just play what ever you wanted from your daw into slate ai anyway it works, the files selected are ok, but static logic drummer lets me go in and change the pattern easily which I like so, I am not slagging slate AI, just saying I am used to working with Logic I'd recommend you demo when it is released and see if the workflow suits you.

Aw hell. That’s no different from tap 2 tempo. Using the label AI I thought it aa gonna be closer to “drop this song in and it comes up with a part.” Now THAT would be…depressing.

Well, it’s unclear what the AI is doing but I think more then TTT. In the step sequencer , if you build a more complex pattern, it would search for similar ones.
When I stopped in a wav file, it definitely gave a range of drum patterns .
But, it didn’t strike me as all that smart or as versatile as Logic drummer . For example, I enjoy writing real bass lines to tempo and then have logic drummer follow the bass line and now LD has more pattern presets, you still adjust complexity and intensity and edit in midi!
