I currently have 15 outboard pres for my 16 conversion channels and am looking to find a Neve flavor to fill that last slot.
For the price of a BAE 1084, I could also get a Dual 1073 MP and a pair of their 500 series EQ's, the 73EQL for not too much more (or just a single 1073mp and 73EQL for way less)
Does anyone have any experience with all of these? Would I be missing out if I got the separate preamp/eq rather than going with the full unit?
With the 1073mp+73eql, I would be gaining some frequencies in the mid and high bands, but losing out on the LPF of the 1084 (not a huge concern)
My biggest concern is overall sonics. Happy to pay extra to get something that's obviously better, but if it's splitting hairs I'll go ahead and save the cash.

Have definitely seen these and been curious. The downside is that I only have 2 500 spaces and I was saving for a stereo pair of EQs that would fill those spaces (potentially a pair of the 73EQLs). Was hoping to be done with buying 500 series gear after that as I have 4 racks. But, if these sound good enough, might be worth getting another 4-space rack for a pair.

I’ve built 2 of the AML 1084s and they seem every bit as “good” sonically as my BAE rack units (1073/1066/1023)
If you have rack space and don’t need all the of extras of the 84, the AML rack 1073 looks great to me.

It would probably be my first thing to look at if I wanted that old school Neve flavor.

Was just checking out the AMLs. Pretty insane deal. Not sure how accurate Google's GBP to USD conversion its, but it's saying that a pair of these 1084s would be about $1700 shipped (and assembled). I also love that there are separate cards for line and mic in on these (I assume that's how they're set up?). I have the 500 series BAE 1073s and it's a bit annoying to use them line in as they just have one physical input and a mic/line switch. I keep stage boxes hard wired to my preamp ins, so that extra line in is incredibly helpful.

For accurate at the moment currency conversion I find XE pretty accurate, but you have to make sure your credit card isn’t using jacked up rates or adding fees. The other method is using PayPal, put it your basket check out and just end the transaction before the very last step.

My AMS Neve 1073 DPX is a really nice unit. I really wanted BAE 1084s, but the AMS DPX was two channels for roughly the same price as one BAE 1084. So, if the extra points of EQ are not the big thing and you have the rack space, the AMS sounds fantastic, and even gives you some digital metering too.
