…about “the other” gear related website here?
There are obvious reasons I prefer RGO but once in a while I’ll reply to posts there. In recent months the threads I posted to (and some of those replies took a while to formulate) just completely disappeared, along with my (benign AFAIK) posts. That place seems like corporate sludge at this point, controlled communication: super sad.
Ok…vented. If too problematic, free to make this thread completely disappear!

Well as I recall it was exactly that kind of stuff that lead to the creation of this place.
So, yeah, nothing new really.

I had a bunch of my posts from the site in question removed for warning about a dodgy gear broker.
He screwed me but also someone who contacted me via a PM who got really shafted for more than $20k.
The broker who originally ran a company called (HINT: Prehistoric Equipment) which went bankrupt had bought another audio gear company/name (HINT: A circular three dimensional object) and began advertising on the site in question and suddenly all posts referring to ‘said’ brokers unethical business practices disappeared.

I guess you’ve (deservingly) reached power user levels (with professional reputation to back it up). I sent a direct message to “jewels” there, this time (unlike others), not only did I get no response it’s as if the direct message I sent itself disappeared. I recognize that it’s an imperfect world, a lot to manage, and it’s gone down hill, but for me this is a whole new level Edit: I’m not even sure the site hasn’t been sold |

I wanted to come back to this because "the other site" made a correction and reinstated the whole thread that had been nuked - I confirmed with somebody else there that it hadn't disappeared for just me, so it's odd that its back again. This doesn't bring up my comfort level fully there, but at least the anointed ones there happened to make my preferred decision, leaving it up.

There are still some great people over there. It's like when I visit the areas, where I grew in Westside L.A. and Los Angeles proper. Have to be more selective. If/when I see Jules in person again... I do have some things to directly discuss with him. Ala these concerns (We have a mutual close friend too. They were Roomies/London in their Tweens!) They used to even have Links to other Audio websites (similar kind to RGO too) In the long run IMHO enlighted "Community" has more value, than immediate Commercialization. Like we have here. If a thread goes far enough off track, they'll sometimes close it and hide it for clean up rather than doing it in real time with the thread still open. Most times it's because something has gotten really out of hand, The only one I can think of where it seemed questionable is when they hid the Nebula thread and it seemed like it was tied to them trying to placate Giancarlo. |
