Just got these in this afternoon and I'm getting everything set up and gain matching between the API preamps and the Langs. Right out of the gate, on acoustic guitar at least, they sound pretty damn close to the API's. We'll see how they hold up over the course of a whole song. Heritage also sent me a few extra opamps, so I'll do some swapping between API and Heritage in each unit to see how the did on those.

Finished the review! Full session files available in the video description, I'll be curious to hear what everyone thinks!

Finished the review! Full session files available in the video description, I'll be curious to hear what everyone thinks! Thanks for this! API all the way for me, the Lang sounds Hazy to me. While the API is a bit pokey on some things, it just sounds more alive, more exciting. Every time it switched to the API I felt a veil come off and it's not a case of brighter is better, it just feels more defined, I can hear the playing better. Anyway I was thinking I'd maybe get some as utility preamps when recording drums but I'll probably pass. I do love Heritage though, I use my 73eq jrs every day.

Same for me. The API just sounds more musical all around.

I feel like more and more 'boutique' manufacturers feel like they have to make a version/option of all the same things everyone is doing, and as a result the quality or 'inspiration' suffers?
