You can’t spend an hour with Bob and not learn something! Now we need some young audio student to arrange to spend some time with Bob and write everything down! We need a book of Bob O, one place to go discover it all.

We need a book of Bob O, one place to go discover it all. AGREED on both parts. I was lucky enough, one year Mark Rubel convinced Bob to join us for dinner when we were in town for Welcome to 1979 Summit during one of the first few years.

The Wonder of Stevie (Link) The interview with Stevie at the end details the musical journey he embarked upon with "Where I'm Coming From." Working with him on that album defined the course of my life. His account is precisely as I recall it.

My fave 4 Tops songs/no particular order at Motown... Baby I Need Your Loving. Walk Away Renee. Just Ask The Lonely. Can't Help Myself. Still Waters. Bernadette. Reach out. Bob did you help record all these? Or which ones? I'm trying to talk a local Top Keyboard Player/Vocalist, into Covering some 4 Tops material like this. He has a massive Baritenor voice. And a similar Range to Levi. I can help with 2 of the other parts BTW. But my voice (obviously!) is weighted lighter than the mighty Stubbs! Thanks, Chris P.S. Shoot! I'm mainly gonna practice to The Tops today.

I recorded the vocals on "Still Waters" and helped with the mastering on the others. "Still Waters" was Levi's favorite.

Wonderful!! I love how that song is so "different" to most other songs. Very contemplative for one thing. Thanks Bob!

Hey Bob after rewatching, for bass specifically I have a theory of what might make tracking through monitors a better bet. This comes from a discussion with one of the guys who mixed monitors for sting for a couple of tours. Sting’s preferred stage rig was a pair of Clair 12AM wedges and a Clair sub, not because of how 12am’s cut through all the other 12am mixes but because with this rig he could hear all the harmonics on P-Bass just as if he was playing an upright, most instrument speakers are so bandwidth limited that all the HF harmonics disappear, nice full range mains could only improve on this.
