Really great! I've heard so many people freak out because their production got some radio play and it sounded small, or wimpy compared the other songs. Had my radio tuned in for the scheduled playtime, listened to a few tunes beforehand....Ray LaMontagne actually played right before it. Pretty high standards....I was super nervous. Announcer started talking about the artist, song plays, and it actually popped really nicely. Fit right in. It was super validating just getting an artist I worked with on the radio, but then hearing it and actually feeling good about it was a really fantastic feeling. That is all. Just wanted to share! Here's a link to the song.

Grats!
Were this your vocal recording chain of choice or did she record it herself? The DBX is'nt typically promoted... I have no experience with myself though. But talent triumph gear every time!

We recorded it at my place. At the time, all I had was my Lynx pres and I missed playing with outboard pres/compression/eq etc so I picked one of those up on the cheap. Ended up working really well. I actually tracked that whole song through it! Bass was a radial di into it and acoustic and electric guitars were a Beesneez 87 through the dbx as well. I actually really like the sound of it.

talent triumph gear every time! I realised this was a bit stupid statement of me. It made it sound like the gear was bad, which it is not. Sorry for that and by talent I included engineering ofcourse! A very good production to my ears, very well suited for this song and style. What were the mixing and mastering process like?

This sounds great and the production is right up my alley!
I've definitely had the cringe-worthy moments you speak of upon hearing my stuff on the radio, but I definitely wouldn't feel that way about something like this!
Would love to hear more about the vocal production/effects. I'm always trying to get this sort of vibe but feel like things end up a little bit too sterile/clean for my liking. I'm always wanting a vocal to be warm but defined and often fall short.

All good man...totally understood what you were trying to say. And thank you for the compliment! I'll have to revisit the session to remember exactly what I did!

Just opened this up real quick...Not much going on as far as the vocals go. Besides being recored through the DBX channel strip, I have a 1073 on her for a little hi-pass and 12k boost. Then your typical 1176 into La2a. Both just taking off a few dB, but mostly for tone as I do a lot of clip gain in Reaper. Verb is a Relab plate and delay is Baby Audio Baby Comeback set to a dotted eighth. She's honestly such a great singer, her voice just records really really well. I just made sure when we tracked that I got the performance I wanted out of her. We did do a ton of layering for backgrounds, but they are buried just enough to give the song some depth and interest.
Mixing is pretty typical as well. I set up busses for my drums, guitars and keys, and vocals. So there are a few different verbs and delays happening. All the tracks have some kind of eq and compression, with some having a little saturation. The trick with mixing this for me was mixing it at a lower volume and getting the midrange to speak the way I wanted. It was tricky because there are a lot of tracks. I think 50 total which is a lot for me. Mostly vocals, but lots of different drum/percussion parts, keys, acoustic and electric guitars. I wanted everything to gel together nicely. I honestly spent a long time on this mix because I really liked her voice and it was the first time I was producing someone solely on them hiring he and not knowing me beforehand. So I felt like I had to make it really good!
On the master buss I went a little crazy on this one....My chain starts with a Fuse Audio vpre72 for some color. Then a Fuse VQP258 which is a kind of BAX eq I believe. But looking at it, it's on but no eq is being used. I guess I liked the color it added! Then I have the SSL Native Buss Comp. I know no one really likes that one, but it works for me. Just tickling the meters. After that there's a UAD MEQ Pultec with 1 dB boost at 1.5k for some reason! The onto Ozone 8 for the "mastering". Nothing too crazy. Some hi-passing of the entire track at around 40Hz with a little bump right after it. A litte low mid cut and some highs boosted. Pretty typical mastering curve to open things up and get a little headroom. There's a little more compression happening above 250Hz and also some dynamic eq used at choice frequencies. I'm driving the vintage tape module pretty hard at 30ips with the harmonics and low and high emphasis cranked. That's pretty wild to see, but I guess it works! Then just the limiter.

Sounds like our vocal chain (minus the DBX unit) is pretty similar. Again, great mix and production!
