I've become kind of addicted to the family of transparent and semi-transparent compressors. This one can do tone shaping but seems intended for leveling. Anyway, anybody have experience with PSP Flare here?
Does it do anything that Kotelnikov or AMEK Mastering Compressor can't?

I'd like to try this on bass, it could be nice in front of a vibey compressor like Molot or MJUC. As long as the transients stay in place to be available for the following compressor, which it seems to do when watching Dan's video. Impressive

Flare is really good and easy to use. The limiter stops anng drastic overshoot without a ton of distortion. Reminds me of a less plastic Fircomp and less middy Oxford Dynamics. I bought it on their recent sale with my volume discount. Another great PSP product.

With my Satellite still bricked I'm gonna try Flare in that spot which is literally what it's made for I think (dialogue). But since I'll have it on trial anyway, might as well try it on some music too. |

I got it - Not much else I know does ridiculous amounts of compression without destroying the transients, or squashing / dulling the top end detail. The video is great, especially when showing a mix loaded up with Flare on each mix bus.
Excellent tool.

It cannot detect the transients because it’s a pcm sample compressor which is why it has the limiter.
