My Demeter VTMP-2B. Sold it to a friend to fund my AMS Neve 1073 DPX. I kept using it at his studio while tracking there. I missed it, so I tracked another used one down and bought it again. Just cut a session vocal with it. Great preamp for FET mics. Yes. The somewhat bashed Neuman 184 works out really well when paired to the Demeter pre. By the way, I am not sure if you are into changing tubes, but the one I had came with Chinese tubes which I swapped out for NOS tubes. I haven’t gone down that rabbit hole yet.

60's Ludwig champagne sparkle drum kit (it wasn't that great but I should have held on to it) 2000's Beech Custom (blueberry) drum kit If I could only keep two drumsets it would be these two! Biggest gear selling regret was a 414eb with brass capsule. sold it in need of some work for a lot of money well over 10 years ago and have missed it ever since.

I sold and regret a Moog guitar E1. It was unique and very musical. You know, the guitar with infinite sustain etc ? It's a trip.
I don't sell much, but I might want to sell a Brauner Phantera for 1,5k €. I don't think it's a good fit for me irrespective of its intrinsic qualities. I'd be better off with other microphones. Contact me if interested.

Years ago when I had very young kids and having a precious acoustic guitar around felt very much of a risk, I sold my beloved Furch.. Recently, I was able to buy it back! Hopefully it survives the way over here Btw, I would not call things I regret selling 'sh*t' as in fe*es Who'd keep a sh*t, let alone buy and sell it..? We have inherited a fine language, just got to use it..

Oh, I remember. I had a pair of Western Electric 121-A preamp / line amps for a minute. A flip, couldn't possibly afford to keep them, but they would be a real centerpiece.

Like an idiot, I got rid of the Skibbe Flickinger preamps because I wanted to have 8 of an API-ish pre in my rack. Now of course Jack White hired Bill, and he only does a batch once a year that sells out in days. The Twin Flicks don't sound the same - there seems to be a bit of sonic variance between all of Flickinger's consoles. The Skibbes were faster to my ears.
I'm not sure if regret is the right word since I sold them to a big time engineer visiting NYC for way way above market value, but I had original Acoustic Energy AE1s that I loved working on. You can see why some covet them, they result in characterful decisions and are fun to listen on. It's hard to make a neutral, boring decision on them and I've never heard a speaker like them since. And they have ample low end (though it's on the muddier side with the ported design).

When I was young and dumb I sold a Musicman Stingray 5-string bass to guitar center so I could buy…an M-Audio Octane ADAT preamp to expand the track count on my Digital 002. Easily the worst choice I’ve ever made. That bass was my first nice instrument, but I had bought a really nice custom bass and didn’t think I would use the musicman anymore. Fast forward nearly 20 years and I want a musicman bass, but they’re double the price.

as soon as I saw this thread I thought of Johnkenn - the king in this category. But regardless of gear, JK could sing through a broken tlm103 and it would still sound great

Biggest thing for me is a 1996 Lowden O12 - Sitka/Mahogany. I don’t know why I was so stupid. I’ve owned 3 other Lowdens, an Avalon (made at the same factory as my O12), and a McIlroy since I sold the O12, and none of them have been as magical as that one.

Excuse me, but are you suggesting that there are some tlm103s that are not broken?

Vintage gear. Racks of Neve, Calrec desks, Telefunken Tube gear and that kind of stuff. OG 1176 Rev A and others. The most mint U47 anyone’s ever seen including Grosser, A really nice C12, C24 and SM69’s I needed the money to convert my church into a studio so I don’t really regret it as I own a much better studio. The worst thing is not knowing how stupid prices were gonna get.

If you sold this at Cotton Music in Nashville on consignment, I bought it. That was maybe 24-25 years ago. It's the most incredible guitar I've ever had. I know that's a long shot but if I ever sold mine, I'd immediately regret it and continue to forever.

The only thing I regret selling was my wife’s Telecaster Custom she’d had since a kid…nothing special just a made in Mexico model but we were teenagers needed to pay rent…I’ve since replaced it with another but it’s not really the same thing.
