...so there's two of us debating a product that only one of us has any experience with...I think we've both wasted enough thread real estate debating your "quick to dismiss" attitude...I'm done...moving on... ...meanwhile, back in Gotham Cable City, we check in on Audio Batman.... embarrassing smh Umm. I said my peace because I don't like SP products due to bad experiences.. And then he came after me because he doesn't agree.. And somehow I'm the initiator and the bad guy? So just like he says "one of us has experience" with a product, he obviously didn't have experience with the past products putting bad tastes in mouths either, so if anything we are on an even playing field right now, even though I owned 3 separate SP products throughout the years, and he's only speaking of 1 product.. I know you got a beef with me because I don't see things your way, but come on, it's pretty obvious that I had valid concerns in this discussion. And just like Batman, I'm "the hero Gotham deserves, but not the one it needs right now. So you'll hunt me. Because I can take it. Because I'm not your hero. I'm a silent guardian, a watchful protector." Protecting your muffukkin wallets is what I'm trying to do.

So just like he says "one of us has experience" with a product, he obviously didn't have experience with the past products putting bad tastes in mouths either. ...maybe if you read the thread more carefully, you'd refrain from extending the conversation unnecessarily... ...I clearly stated, "...since you have no experience using the CS-series mics, your comment is less than relevant, as I have used both the C1 and CS-series mics, and these newer mics are vastly superior and display none of the overly hyped, top-end sizzle that characterized the C1..." ......it's condescending-dismissal style comments like your's that make me reluctant to return to the purple site high-end forum...quit while you're ahead, bro...

Damn......i was this close to put 5$ on one of you. ...my original recommendation still stands, Koln...as I briefly owned an MXL 2003A, while the CS-5 (multi-pattern version) maintains it's current slot in my mic cabinet (which BTW, contains no other cheap Chinese LDC mics at the present time, but a broad selection of high-quality DIY Classic tube mic clones)... ...the 2003A, while an improvement on the earlier version, IMHO is not in the class of the slightly more expensive, but vastly more versatile and better-built CS-1... ...glad to return this thread back on track...

Hey guys...I just signed up for this forum. I like to keep up on comments and opinions of our products. Studio Projects was started in late 1998 and the C1 came out in late 1999. The first show was at NAMM in 2000, and we put up a U87 next to a C1...not to say it is the same, but to have something familiar to judge it by as many know the U87.
I have a U87 and still use it. I know its limitation in a couple of frequencies, but that is the mic. The C1 is a bright mic..it definitely has a peak which you either like, or don't like. The C1 sure did stir up a lot of arguments on several BBS's because it was assembled in China, but PMI never made any bones about where it was made. We just offered a few mics that a whole lot of people liked. I mean we sold tens of thousands of them over the years...I can't even keep count. So even if they were throw away's, at the time it was not very relevant at only $200.00, and for a lot of folks starting out, the $200.00 mic was a blessing. Then came the T3, the B Series....
One of the things Brent did with C4's and CS Series was to do an entire new design. In the CS Series, the adjustable LF and HF settings eliminated any peak response. With a new circuit, the mic got pretty smooth, but as with all mics, opinions will always vary...but, it handled 152 dB SPL and with 5 patterns in the case of the CS5, it got great reviews.
Not to long ago, James Lugo did a huge mic shootout in LA with a lot of pros...It was published widely. A $10K Telefunken mic won the shootout. Of course we did not think we would win, but Tom did take time in the review to give special praise for the CS5. According to their panel, the CS5 was an incredible mic for the money and they were all surprised that it did so well against mics costing $5K and over. Now I was excited when I read that, but that does not really mean a thing at the end of the day.
Mics are about sound. Each one is different, and like any NFL game on Sunday, any team can beat the other team no matter how good one of the teams are. Mics are tools. I love them all and they all have a use. If you have used the CS Series mics or the C4's, then you know it is a very good mic. It does not matter if it is $399.99, or $999.99...It's a very god mic. Wether or not it is the mic for you is another story...but a whole lot of high end guys still use them.
I think what I am saying is don't judge all SP models based on the C1. The C1 was done a long time ago, and still sells well today. The C1 is what it is, but Brent has a new design and a new series is coming in 2015...
I am always happy to discuss, answer or provide factual information, and hope that I am welcome here...

We can clearly see you don't have an once of "sense de l'humour" in you. It's ok. It's not for everybody. Are you a DJ?
I've taken note of kidvybes's point of view BUT didn't have time in the last hour to run, buy the mic and test it.
And Alan pushing his stuff in this thread....nahh. I have no problem with manufacturer / distributor posting about new products........not pushing it in other people's thread. That's the limit.

there should be a button you push that says...
"I disagree, but I respect your opinion, and each to their own as each of our life experiences are different and we both like different things."
gee it would save me some time reading.
cheers

I actually appreciate him coming in to have a say even though a couple products of his left me wanting. He did it right though. He gave some insight, gave some facts and I didn't get the sense that he took anything personal. I didn't even feel like he was pushing anything. If this was GS, a manufacturer like him might have pulled strings to get the thread locked and deleted and I would probably have been banned. But it's not, and no matter opinions we have, we can put them out there. I mean SP brought us a product that worked, I never said it didn't. I just felt it never lived up to the incredible hype that was put out there in the marketing and the professional reviews. I mean, yeah it was only 200$, which for some is probably a steal, but had I saved that money I would have gotten my UM70S that much sooner. That's my personal experience whether someone wants to agree or not. And tonycamphd, I have to hand it to you, that batman cartoon thing had me laughing. Well played.

Thanks to the people who gave honest opinions.
To the others......get to the local pub, have a few drinks and get into a fight elsewhere.

Then Allen the distributer, who I like and respect, makes his first post here about that mic, which the OP pretty much said no thanks to. I kind of agree it seams like somebody invited Allen to comment ! This is Kennedy's playground , and I think dealers, distributors, and manufactures are valuable, but the hard sell where nobody Asked about the mic , is one of the things that a lot of people don't like about GS is those with an interest in a product, Pushing a product with the hard sell any time somebody opens there mouth about a product. Like I said its JKs playground his rules but I do see where the OP is coming from it had the taste of a set up and hard sell even if it isn't . I mean Just because it tastes like Chiicken don't mean it's Chicken but it tastes like it ! And dange it right after you umh batman Bruce, erh I mean Tony put out the fire!
