Can anyone recommend a tuner that has adjustable pitch references? Something that doesn’t break the bank? Would Ibe better off just downloading an app? I feel like actual hardware tuners tend to work better but if I have to I’ll use an app.
For reference, I want to tune different instruments, like guitar and synth, to pitches other than A440. I’d likewise like to experiment with just tuning instead of equal tempered. Right now I’m doing by ear but I’d like an actual tuner for consistency. Thanks

I think the PanoTuner app will let you adjust. Even if it doesn’t, I would recommend everyone download PanoTuner. It’s hands down the best tuner I’ve used, it’s what I’ve made everyone use on ever one of my sessions for at least a decade. It’s also not picky about the type of instrument, it’s handled everything I’ve thrown at it accurately.

I use the Peterson iStrobosoft app when I have my guitar plugged into an iPhone or iPad. It's $10. Accuracy is within 0.1 cent. It has a virtual strobe display, but also displays numerical values.
Default is A440, but the website says it can be calibrated from 340 to 540Hz.

I use the Peterson iStrobosoft app with just my iPhone mic, on amps acoustics etc. The strobe readout is easy to be sure of 100% accuracy.

Peterson app has add-on specialty tuning packs too.

Another vote here for Peterson. I have the app, the clip on tuners, and 2 pedals (which you can usually find used for great deals). All have always been solid, can do different reference pitches and like Doug mentions they have different tuning packs.

I’d be totally lost without my Peterson stomp box for pedal steel. The E9 compensated tuning on it is a godsend.

Thanks guys. I just took a look at the petersons…they look rad. I’ll probably end up getting the app. Funds are tight and I think I’d rather buy another DI box than stomp box tuner. The download tools and tuning packages look really useful.
