on sale for 49,99 (+VAT) Euro right now. i had the mellotron in the past and bought the whole sampletank package right now just because i want that mellotron back. i am downloading right now – there's sooooooo much things ... so much things i will NEVER use or download. i don't understand ik multimedia, most stuff i don't even know what it is ... and what i own. it's a labyrinth. i don't want and i don't have the time to read up on all the software ...
so question to the knowning ones: apart from sampletron (mellotron) what's good? is the miroslav philharmonik any good? i only have logic's orchestra and spitfire BBC symphony orchestra (the free one, which is gooood!) it's 46GB! any of the piano good?

I had Sampletank 3 and used to use it a long time ago (as a primitive user - I only used a few things). I then tried SampleTank 4 when it came out, and of course none of my old sounds worked for me, and I could not intuitively figure out ST4 (and did not want to spend days in the users manual). So I went back to ST3, but that was now all screwed up too, so I just mostly gave up on it.

I got it with Total Studio Max and I have only ever used it for the Hugh Padgham drums. I believe it also comes with the sample sets for Syntronik 2, so technically I've used those parts of it as well albiet in their standalone form.
For me it falls into that category where I'm sure it's useful (and takes up a ton of space) but I also tend to work faster when I have fewer options that aren't locked behind IK's front-end. (Scarbee Electric Pianos, Drum Drops and Circle Kits, etc)
On the positive side, someone that doesn't have 10 years worth of curated instruments and samples will probably find it very helpful for $50.
