The behringer sounds flabby to me. But I don’t love the release on the 78. It’s doing something weird to the snare reverb. Could be the verb…Snare verb is my kryptonite. Now I’m wondering if this was the session that I tried CLA Epic on the snare…and I think it might have had some pre-delay somewhere and an actual delay…not sure. Any snare verb suggestions are welcomed! It just seems that I’m searching for a verb on snare that works on almost every freaking song. It must be that there’s a different place for that snare whooosh in every mix? IDK Maybe it's the verb, I don't know. It's tough to say without hearing the context of the song the verb lives in. But as for snare verb in general, I usually try to get it 'for real' with room mics and / or some character mics around the kit. A heavily compressed mic in the right place can 'suggest' ambience without really occupying as much space, plus it can give the added benefit of a more dynamically-even performance and some general excitement. The EMT 250 is a pretty easy snare reverb, IME. At least, for big artificial stuff (might be a nice substitute for what you have in your clips, if you're unhappy with whats there). I also like some of the 'small studio' settings on the humble Avid Revibe and Reverb One plugs (they are surprisingly good). And then there are some general go-to presets, like Lg Wood Room on a 480, Amb or Non Lin on an AMS (I like the Glow plugin...forget the developer's name tho), Tiled Room on a PCM70 or Valhalla Vintage Room, and the Quantum sim plugins.

Yeah...this is gonna be a keep. Don't think I would push this thing too hard, but I'm hearing some betterizing when on the 2 bus. Chops some transients, I'm able to get things a little louder if I want...and surprisingly, I think it's adding a little thump (maybe) and not adding any weird top end.
Lots of times, with 2 bus comps, it's a super subtle thing as to what it's doing. Software seems to be more difficult to tell than hardware.

Yes. Just using it on Mixbus. does the behringer do what the neve does? widen the soundstage a bit and create a sense of depth?

I think I named a vocal file “AS 1178” and it replaced it in google drive. Had no idea GD would do that…which is kind of scary.

I’ll see if I can find it and pop it back up.

So I’ve just had this thing parked on the 2 bus. Bypassed it and popped in the UAD version…and I’m not so sure the plugin doesn’t add a little more weight. I need to bounce down some files to compare as it’s in my rack and I have to lean over to flip on and off…so honestly I don’t know if I can really tell because it’s not an immediate back and forth. I probably need to pop this on a drum bus and really abuse it so I can really understand what all the knobs are doing. I still don’t really understand the limiter. Does sound pass through the limiter first? So you’d actually set that first? Not sure there’s a time I’d use the limiter…but you never know.

Not sure there’s a time I’d use the limiter…but you never know. most of the documentation I've seen says the comp section comes first (in signal flow), then the limiter (even though the limiter is labeled #1, and the comp #2) expand the little + signs in the link... www.ams-neve.com/outboard/limiter-compressors/33609-stereo-compressor/also interesting is that the note that the "slow" setting maybe seems to change the sidechain filter a bit? (and did Behringer get that right?)

I could have sworn the Behringer walkthrough video said it was limiter first into comp. Which I did think was different from other clones. I’m replacing this one with the Stam MkIII when that glorious day comes.
