Hey all - I'm getting frustrated using Addictive Trigger - it triggers well, but the MIDI output is totally shit. Ive been through Sound Replacer back in the day - then Massey DRT. Massey was awesome for the job - it just worked. I don't do Slate software.
What else is really good ?
I want to trigger samples plus spit out MIDI (as accurately as possible) so I can trigger samples via Kontakt.

Have you tried Superior Drummer land?

Well Trigger is the studio standard and is a great tool. One of few slate plugins I've owned since the release.
Superior 3 midi conversion function is solid and works great when you want to use midi libraries as support.
I'm not sure drumagog is alive. They released a sloppy rushed version when Trigger was initially released and lost the market completely.
Trigger is still worth every penny and there are some nice libraries out to! Just buy it, when... It's on sale 😁

Massey DRT is now 64bit - so using it today for audio to midi. Slate is too expensive for a trigger device, but I'll keep an eye out for sales.

A real Drummer? Yes - for real drummers > who don't always hit the sweet spot on snares / and kick reinforcement of kicks when mixing.

Pro Tools can output MIDI from an audio file natively now, if you have 2024.x (can't recall when it was added but latest versions have capability). and seems like Slate has a sale on Trigger for $49 or $59 at least once a year. Even now I'm seeing it's $119. It's more than $29, sure, but those don't usually come with an extensive set of samples. I rarely replace drums though (unless there was some kind of technical problem, or trying to get an electronic sound) and instead only use them for reinforcement. Trigger works pretty well for both (and it can export MIDI). I had Drumagog back in the day but I think that was Pro Tools 9 and I did not upgrade for AAX (PT10 and later)

Currently there are MIDI issue in the last two updates, so I might wait a few months to jump.

I’m still using Trigger Ultimate or whatever it’s called but I still check it all by hand.

Yep - doesn't matter what software is doing this, one needs to check every hit in a song, to be sure there are no errors. I remember once not checking, and found after the mix some ghost snares were triggered, and the odd snare not in phase. Its a PITA > but has to be done

GetGoodDrums (GGD) and ML Audio drums are the ones I use. Both really good, but both sort of oriented for harder music.

If you don’t do Slate software because of the sub well I have some good news for you. Slate Digital and the Slate company that makes Trigger 2 and SSD are two fully different companies. I have to say nothing comes close to Trigger 2. If you told me I had to give up all other Slate branded plugins to only have Trigger 2, I would do it in a heartbeat. Anyways my workflow is usually Massey DRT to make MIDI of the shells and Trigger 2 to run my samples. Painfully accurate and virtually latency free

It'll kinda just wing the hits. Something like DRT with sliders and deeper controls is really nice. Even Trigger2's MIDI making capability is nice, however you have to listen to the whole thing through for it to work which is just silly IMO

Use DRT to generate MIDI, edit it manually for timing, then use it trigger samples. I like Superior Drummer and Slate Trigger.

As I think everyone here agrees, you have to check it and then double check it again to make sure your tiggering app works correctly too.
