Pulled out one of my NoHype Audio LRM-Vs for the first time today for some soprano sax tracking. Put it below the bell. Put my Barbaric BA269 looking from above. Both through the Barbaric BA-T2 tube preamp. Some plate reverb and a bit of compression from the Duality; I’m in an elevator with smooth jazz heaven. Done.
Next Monday, I’ll be pulling both LRM-Vs out for drum room.

I like my J-P Gerard NoHype Audio LRM-V for saxophone too. In fact, that was what J-P recommended to me when I asked about his ribbons.
I like to record with it using my Triton Audio FetHead Germanium preamplifier for rich overtones and phantom power protection.
I have the stock transformer, but wonder how it would sound with the Lundahl transformer, I visited the NoHype site and noticed the Lundahl tranformer option was no longer available.

I’ve the stock transformers in my pair since it seems that’s what is was recommended mostly by JP and I was definitely looking for big low-end vibe with these much more than precision. Can’t wait to try them as piano rooms too!

How is the LRM-V for tracking Vox or Marshall-ish overdriven electric guitar? My understanding is that it is the darkest of the NoHype offerings.

How is the LRM-V for tracking Vox or Marshall-ish overdriven electric guitar? My understanding is that it is the darkest of the NoHype offerings. It wouldn't be my first choice for Marshall-ish overdrive, at least not for close micing or for single mic applications. Some distance away and mixed with a dynamic; maybe. If recording vocals for "overdriven Marshall genres", it might also be a bit on the dark and fat side. It takes EQ well, so you can change it a bit, but it will depend on the specific voice and sonic preferences. Where it shines for me, is for more sparse arrangements where it gives warmth and heft to things that might otherwise come across as thin. Another thing I've tried and liked, is as a secondary (or tertiary) bass drum mic for sub bass boom: I've put it next to the bass drum shell, with the ribbon parallel to the bass drum head. Due to the figure 8, the pressure difference between the front and back of the drum at impact gives a nice low boom.
