Hi all -
I picked up a Neve 1073SPX. Works perfectly.
Long term, some users have had to send the unit for repair due to noise and functionality issues with the white buttons.
For those experienced with this unit, how much of a concern is this ? Does AMS Neve have US repair facilities ?
Thanks
Craig

Hey Craig. I had the DPX and had similar issues…as well as some others with it. They only have repair facilities in the UK (in Canada here). It was still under warranty but Neve wanted me to pay to ship to them ($600 CAD insured!). After a lot of back and forth and having to get upset, they finally agreed to pay for the shipping. Got it back repaired and figured I didn’t want that hassle/potential cost in the future (in case anything else went wrong), so sold it. Now have API and Locomotive pre’s which are both in the US. If I ever feel the need for a Neve again, I’ll get a US clone.

Does somebody know if the same happens to the 500 series preamp's buttons?

I run my studio for me, so the preamp will not be used 6-10 hours a day, but still, the fun ends if I have to ship it back to England for repair : / Craig

schlep no problem. You’ll probably be good, I’m sure it wasn’t that many that were affected. For me, it wasn’t so much the time without since I had other pre’s on hand. It was mainly the sickening cost to ship it back! I don’t think I’d buy any large piece from overseas again…something small like a mic, no problem.
