And in comp or limit? (Source dependent of course). I have an ELOP+ and have lately been thinking maybe I’m not using it to its full potential (not that there’s much to it lol). Thx!

It’s been a long time since I’ve owned an ELOP but at least with the original it has a very fast attack, and sometimes that can be useful for overheads that have too much snare drum in them.
Otherwise…anything where you are trying to tame some fast transients…might be useful for banjo or a mandolin chop…
I’ve not used the + version but I could see how having a 3:1 ratio and a high pass filter would make it a bit more flexible

I have an original ELOP, I really like the harmonic content it adds for vocals when pushing the (tube) output stage a bit. I’ve had good luck tracking with it and I’ll only compress a few dB. One of those tools that adds life to digital tracks in my opinion. Mine has the HPF option and I’ve found it quite useful, usually set for the 200Hz setting to keep the compression pretty subtle, mainly because I'm afraid I'll overdo it and can't undo later (and I'm normally recording myself, would rather wait until mix stage to fully commit to more gain reduction).
I actually really like the sound of the compression itself too but it somehow can sound both smooth and aggressive at the same time - it has a unique character when hit hard (meaning when more than maybe 7dB gain reduction) which may or may not be right for the track.

I also have an original elop. Didn’t fully appreciate it at first but it really makes things easier down the production line. If you haven’t yet tried it feed one channel into the other on vocals….

Thanks y’all! kevinnyc so you limit and then limit again? I have the ELOP+, was thinking to hit it first with limit, then run it into the comp. But a double limit could be cool too, will give that a try!
