I really appreciate that analog warmth when I'm plastered on the lawn... . Hopefully Fairchild releases a "California" Edition of their Fairchild in honor his this moment.

According to the article, they are using the new one from POM, not a vintage one. I mean... why not? They have to sell maybe 75 tickets to offset the cost?

Now that it's become more common to use studio gear live, I always wonder what happens to the gear when the tour is over?...

I never really liked their live sound without the Fairchild (clone), but now...!

I thought they were taking a vintage unit out on the road just because they kept saying Fairchild instead of [clone brand].

I don't think POM can use the Fairchild name anymore, they sold it or something? It's complicated, I can't really remember, but I think the one in the article is the new "reissue" under the Fairchild name that's owned by Telefunken.

Actually it’s less common, I remember about 20 years ago Scovill took about 16 Purple MC77’s on the road with I think either Dylan or Petty. As to what happens after the tour, it depends if the SR company provided it you will probably see it for sale after the tour, if the FOH guy bought it who knows, if the band owns probably will live at Fleas place, or if TFunk loaned it who knows. I think RHCP still Tours with RAT Sound so watch their EBay store. Would I ? Nah Digico with a DIY soundgrid will run any VST plugin without any worries and won’t be as fickle.

You have been around long enough to get it😎 Where is the picture and info about the FING CASE! I’m sure for the price of a Fairchild R&at could build something that would survive, but I’ll bet it as a couple of Drawers with cut foam for replacement tubes.

Ya, that’s definitely a POM in the picture.

If so, then I'm mistaken!
If it is a POM, then they got their unit before the decision happened in Telefunkens' favor...
Oh well
No matter, that's ain't gonna last in the summer heat....and when it goes down, AND IT WILL, during a show...

Now that it's become more common to use studio gear live, I always wonder what happens to the gear when the tour is over?... Most of the time the gear is rent from a studio and return at the studio at the end of the tours, It's a new way to make money for some studio.

“My mastering chain is the Wes Audio ngTubeEQ, a four-way stereo EQ, into the Fairchild, into the Oven by Maor Appelbaum and Hendy Amps, and then into the PA.”
Mastering chain in live sound? Isn’t that kind of an oxymoron?

John McBride has been known to bring some pretty sick shit on tour, I believe a 660 for Martina's vocal and REDD(Vintage) EQs for the mix bus.
