Hate hearing these stories, I’ll just leave this here… It’s sad, but Latch Lake Stands are worth every penny! Bro, No, no they aren’t!

I looked up the latch stand, $560! Gimme a break, 4 heavy duty top notch c stands for that price that will OUT PERFORM the latch stand, it’s not even debatable, less expense, stronger, longer, more stabile, more adjustable ☑️ You could literally hang your entire mic collection in a bag off the end of a single 10’ boom without breaking a sweat 🐴🚰

I'm not going to argue with you about the C Stand comparison, I've made this argument for years. I'm sitting here staring at my under $100 "Impact" C-Stand holding up my Godox light and huge softbox 7 feet up in the air without breaking a sweat. I don't understand why a company like Impact isn't making mic stands as well, it's comical... The Latch Lakes are MUCH better made than just about any C-Stand I've worked with. They cost a shit load of money, so not for everyone. They were way out of my budget when I got mine, but I spent the money there instead of a bunch of other places I desperately needed the money in the studio. "Buy once, cry once". I don't think about mic stands anymore, I don't worry about leaving things up on them for weeks if need be. The Xtra-Boom arms let me mic most of a drum set off of two big stands. They're the best, and until I see someone else make something just as good for significantly less, I'm going to say quite confidently that noone else is making a stand that good right now at any price point. I don't mind being the snooty twat when it comes to the thing holding all my expensive shit every day. I'm not seeing any threads about "my latchlake broke and I'm pissed", there's a bagillion other threads everywhere over the internet complaining about all the other stuff. I also don't need a bunch of sandbags on the Latch Lakes when I put things up on them, I've never used a C-Stand without a sandbag or two. C Stands are not a bad option if you're on a budget and need something that's better than most mic stands being made right now. There are some workarounds with them though. The only thing against the Latch Lake stands is that they're expensive, and that is what it is. Everyone complains about cost on stuff like this until their nice shit breaks, so here we are...

It’s sad, but Latch Lake Stands are worth every penny! Bro, No, no they aren’t! Oh Tony, while I have no problem using C- stands for hanging mics there are just to many situations where heavy duty with a smaller foot print and no sand bags is a must. At that point a Latch Lake, Songbirds or old Atlas is a must. The funny thing about all the current crop of C stands is I know far to many old lighting guys who wouldn’t touch them with a 10 foot pole because in there eyes they don’t compare in build to an ancient Century ( the C in C Stand). Honestly they are right & if your ever at an auction with a bunch don’t even think your going to win! Honestly if I’m putting up a pair of M49’s the cost of Latch Lakes are pretty cheap insurance. Now for an idea I shared with Ultimate after they discovered the magic of Bicycle quick release after they partnership with Trek on bike repair stands ( rep really didn’t like getting taught that Trek Bontager didn’t event them Campaganolo did ) an insert for there speaker stands that would have a standard mic stand thread on it so you could use their speaker stands as mic stands. Think of all those ultimate speaker stands that spend most of their lives in bags that could see use as mic stands as well.
